Final, Semi Final, Quarter Final, never in danger of tournament qualification, rarely beaten. And yet must of us would rather stab forks in our head than watch his England.

The ultimate test case of what matters most, results or performances.

Come on then, if everyone is fit and available, what’s people’s side/squad for the Euros? I’ll go…

Pickford
Walker, Stones, Dunk, Lewis
Rice
Bellingham, Foden
Saka, Kane, Grealish

Ramsdale, Pope, Trippier, Shaw, Guehi, Colwill, James, Maddison, Eze, J Ramsey, Rashford, Nketiah

Struggling to beat Malta and getting a point Vs North Macedonia this week has only solidified most people's utter lack of faith in Southgate as a coach. The performances have been nowhere near good enough.

Early KO round exit likely beckons in the Euros with such an unambitious coach.
I'm no fan of Southgate, but look at our last two performances after we won the Championship. No goals and one point with a 3-0 defeat against the bottom team.

I happens once a team has achieved its aim.

Don't matter who you pick with Southgate in charge we could pick the squad out of the 23 greatest players the world has ever produced and it would still be more entertaining watching paint dry

He’ll definitely play 2 defensive midfielders which is the problem.

Has a safety first attitude.

We are going to rely on Bellingham and Kane a lot whilst hoping Saka/Foden play well .

Not that the attacking players today really did enough but then not helped by being pulled up for fouls so often .

McGuire was awful gave the ball away so many times, Trent was terrible, wide forwards created nothing, really awful to watch.

Extremely lucky runs. Second you come up against opposition that has a manager who will actually think, it all goes wrong.

I’m not sure what the best starting eleven is, but it is almost guaranteed that Maguire and Henderson will be in the team.

Went out for a curry last night. Seems like I had the better evening compared to people who watched England.

Well, that's the crux of it. The most successful England manager for over half a century, an awful lot of fans' lifetimes, but no silverware. So is going deep into a tournament worth playing pragmatic football if you don't win it? Sadly, I think a lot of people, Southgate included, do think so.

Never a greater example than this weekend. France whallocking Gibraltar earns no more points than us beating Malta, but it sure as hell cements a confidence and sense of superiority, hones a killer instinct we just don't have. Southgate trundles out a win, plays Henderson, plays a defensive six, and our players wander off back to their clubs to tend their wounds, they win, they qualified unbeaten, but there's no inner fire.

We matched our opponents in those three key tournament games we lost, but we had no killer instinct and losing was no surprise. You can't just turn it on like a tap.

I can't wait for him to be gone, personally.

It was a terrible watch...however much Joe Cole (in his flasher mac) and Dion Dublin tried to convince the viewing public otherwise.
Trent Alexander Arnold isn't a great defender so they move him to midfield where he isn't of the desired quality to create or do that job either. We are in danger of being very average if we don't have Bellingham / Kane.

For all of the outrage regarding the penalty it just made up for the one that Maguire should have conceded earlier.

Seriously? he clatters his leg and is nowhere near the ball.
Clatters?! Are we watching the same clip?

There’s maybe, possibly, when slowed down frame by frame, slight contact between their shins but he absolutely dives.

I guess this in itself highlights the issue of VAR for subjective decisions though!

Just watched the penalty given against England. Another completely ridiculous decision by VAR. The referee should have told them to bugger off and stayed with his original decision. But as we know, if VAR say look, then the referee gives a penalty.

Southgate saying we played well shows his severe lack of standards with the players he has at his disposal. Play like we have this week and we're unlikely to make it into the KO rounds in Germany.

Anyone have the slightest idea as to how to the Play-Offs work for Euro Champs?

The other thing is the we learned a lot phrase, good for you, thousands travelled, millions watched, to be bored out of their skin, while Gareth learned what most people already knew.

I know we've qualified at a canter really, but the last two performances haven't been good enough.

Millions may have watched it, but I didn’t. With the quality of the players at his disposal, Southgate somehow sends out a team who bore the socks off me. I know England have a good record under Southgate, but I just do not enjoy watching them.

Great game between Ukraine and Italy.
Keep in mind how soft a penalty VAR gave against England and now watch an absolute stone wall one getting ignored by VAR for Ukraine. UEFA wanted Italy in those finals ;)

Ref bottled it in real time too, had the perfect view of it.
Watched the game on Irish TV. Great game even if I had to listen to Gerry Armstrong. His view of the incident? First look, definite penalty. Replay, yeah definite penalty.

When not given by ref or Var, what's his opinion? I'm glad to see refs not giving those.

Yet these are the people that supporters want making decisions on VAR.

Believe this Slovenian referee for the Wales v Turkey game is genuinely corrupt and not just hapless. Turned down a few stonewall penalties for Wales and refused to go to the monitor for one. Then gave Turkey an equalising penalty for a clear dive. No VAR review. All academic anyway as Croatia lead Armenia.

Fortunately for him didn’t matter as they would have probably been a near riot if those decisions had been important.
