Think he's a total hypocrite the whole concept of so called socialists paying the "amount their legally required" to, whilst adopting every aggressive tax avoidance scheme available is an anathema to me, presumably you support Google, Amazon and all the other corporations who minimise their tax contribution by legal means? My last post on the subject, you disagree fine, going to enjoy Quadrophenia far more important to me.

Yep I am a little to the left and my political views have nothing to do with what I heard. I don’t actually mind Lineker but his saintly demeanour is slightly at odds with real life

That whole thing about tax efficiency/avoidance is irrelevant. I worked in the financial services sector for many years and I can assure you anyone and everyone is employing professionals to reduce the amount of tax they pay by any means possible within the law. I can guarantee that many of those that contribute to this forum will be utilising those kind of services. But the tabloids wouldn't be much interested in them. But I suppose if you're famous you are fair game.Never said he did, so ok to pontificate on social issues whilst doing your utmost to minimise your contribution to the potential solutions you advocate, do you not see the hypocrisy?

Oh come on Andy, he hasn't broken any rules but he's actively chosen not to pay the same tax as the rest of us, aggressively so some may rightly argue. Yet he advocates bringing in more people at the lower end of the tax spectrum that can't ever possibly hope to put in as much as they take out, as much as I'm sure they'd love to. The more of his type we have, the more our welfare state turns to ashes.
He's a fraud, or ignorant, I'm almost certain it's the latter.
Huge props for Shearer this year though, never warmed to him (met him personally many times) but his analysis has been spot on, especially his assassination of the apathy of West Ham players. Quite right too.

Twenty years ago, Newcastle played Stevenage away in the cup. After the match which ended 1-1, Shearer stated that players like himself should not be expected to play at grounds such as Broadhall Way. Hated him ever since.

For a while my Mrs worked at Hilton Park Services and regularly met celebs. it doesn't matter how famous you are - if you need a pee, you need a pee. Bryan Robson, manager at Middlesbrough at the time came into her shop (Thorntons) and bought about £300 worth of chocolates, she said when he opened his wallet she had never seen so much money.
Gerrard, McMannaman, and Michael Owen came in and were really nice blokes.
Robbie Williams, Darren Day and a few music stars that came in were aloof and refused any autographs. The worst were celebs that wanted to be noticed and strutted up and down desperate to be photographed.
