Ha, went to bed at HT in the QPR game as falling asleep while watching. Obviously should have made more of an effort to stay awake. MGW not mentioned among the scorers or providers. Know how he did?

Sorry, didn’t watch. Judging by internet comments they were happy with him but he wasn’t in the top 4 MOTM nominees

Relatively quiet first half but put himself about in the 2nd and was unlucky not to score after seeing a header bounce off the post. On a few occasions he was free in acres but his teammates chose the wrong option.

What strikes me is his imagination with the ball; he isn’t afraid to attempt the flamboyant and will also drive at the opposition’s back line. I’d say he’s ready for a proper crack at our 1st team now. He’s shown far more going forward than Trincao (albeit in a lower league) and deserves a fair chance… so cue him being sold off in the summer.

If anyone wants a distraction from the goings on closer to home, here is Saturdays loan update:

Theo Corbeanu was an unused substitute as MK Dons emphatically beat Plymouth 5-0 away. That result sees MK finish 3rd and pushes Plymouth out of the play offs to the benefit of Wycombe who will be MK’s playoff opposition

Ryan Giles was, for the third game running, not in the Blackburn squad as they lost 3-0 at home to second place Bournemouth

Luke Matheson played 90 mins as S****horpe drew 1-1 at home to Hartlepool. S****horpe are already consigned to non league next season

Connor Ronan played 90 mins as St Mirren won 1-0 away at St Johnstone in a crucial relegation game. St Mirren now have an 8pt advantage over St Johnstone with 3 games to play

Jackson Smith played 90 mins and secured another clean sheet in a MOTM performance as Kettering drew 0-0 away at 3rd placed AFC Fylde. That result keeps Kettering in with a shout of the play offs - 2points short with 2 to play

272474D7-1F87-4F80-AA4B-E9EB27ACD1B8.jpeg

Andreas Sondergaard wasn’t in the Hereford squad as they lost 1-0away at Spennymoor

Louie Moulden played 90 mins as Ebbsfleet drew 2-2 at home to Chippenham

Leo Bonatini, Bendeguz Bolla and Hayao Kawabe all started as Grasshoppers played Lugano away. Leo played 72 mins and scored his 7th goal of the season, Kawabe played 90 mins and provided the assist for Leo and Bolla played 90 mins. Bruno Jordao came on with two mins left to see the game out. Sang-bin Jeong wasn’t in the squad. Final score 1-1

Leonardo Campana started but went off with an injured foot after 12 minutes as Inter Miami lost 2-0 away at New England

Cheers for the continued great updates, giant. A real shame that Corbeanu and Giles are both getting no real game time now. Good reports on some of the keepers though.

Connor Ronan was awarded Man of the Match in the St. Johnstone v St. Mirren match on the basis that:

The midfielder's set-pieces were a constant threat for St. Mirren, and he showed why there is a lot of interest in the on-loan Wolves man.

Sunday loan update:

Patrick Cutrone was an unused substitute as they squandered a one goal lead, got two players sent off and lost 3-1 through a late Andrea Belotti hat trick

Nigel Lonwijk came on after 34 mins (already 2-0 at that point) as Sittard lost 3-1 at home to Feyenoord

Adama Traore was an unused substitute as Barcelona beat Mallorca 2-1 at home

Ruben Vinagre came on after 64 mins as Sporting beat Gil Vicente 4-1 at home

I think most of us do!

Thanks again, Giant, for the most consistently interesting and informative thread on the Mix.

Hope you're up for it next season, when our new Head Coach Pep Guardiola is bringing in and then loaning out dozens of new starlets ...

Yeah, more than happy to do it next season… to be honest it probably won’t go away in the summer given that Campana/MLS & Jack Scott/Irish prem runs over the summer

BH Monday update:

Andreas Sondergaard wasn’t in the Hereford squad as they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to 2nd placed Brackley Town

In the same league (National League North), Jackson Smith kept yet another clean sheet as Kettering beat play off rivals Alfreton 1-0. That win leapfrogs Kettering into 7th (the last play off spot) on GD with one game to play

In the southern equivalent of Jackson’s league, Louie Moulden played 90 mins as Ebbsfleet came from behind to beat Billericay 2-1 away. That result pushes Ebbsfleet into 3rd and relegated Billericay. Ebbsfleet are certain of a play off spot but need at least the equivalent of 4th result next week to secure a semi final playoff spot

Tonight Renat Dadashov will look to help fire Tondela to 3 much needed points as they sit 4 points from safety with 3 games left

Tondela and Renat Dadashov suffered late heartbreak conceding an equaliser in injury time to draw 1-1 at home to Pacos Ferriera. Renat came on with 6 minutes of normal time remaining. That result leaves cup finalists Tondela, 3pts short of safety with two games to play.

Only allowed to loan out 8 players next season isn’t it? Then 6 season after? Not sure if this is a good idea or not.

8 over 21 years of age.

Off the top of my head of the 22 players out on loan in the second half of the season, we had 11 I think over that age banding, however 4 of those were home grown (Ronan, Giles, Sanderson, MGW) so actually it comes in at 7 as home grown are also excluded

That said, it will cause a few challenges next season

The quote was from the BBC who awarded him Man of the Match. I take it the interest in him is primarily from Scotland, he is on a par with Championship level rather than Premiership level players. No doubt the club will have a look at him when he returns and make a decision on what he does/where he goes next season.

Thursday:

Theo Corbeanu was an unused substitute as the second best team carrying the Wanderers name (Wycombe) beat Theo’s MK Dons 2-0 in the playoffs first leg. The second leg is on Sunday

Season has sorta fizzled out for him after a decent start

Same with Giles and Lonwijk. A real shame. Cant see any of them impacting our first team next season. Possibly Giles but not regularly.

I think the manager changed how the team set up which didn't suit Theo's style of play.
he did yes, much more defensive in style.

To be fair Theo has featured 16 times out of 23 games. The disappointing element for Theo would be only 8 of those have been for 70mins or longer and only one of those has been since the beginning of March

That shows the need to send players to the right club, which is always difficult.

The two stand out loans in terms of game time and real contribution have been MGW and Ronan. Bolla at Grasshoppers is worth a good look in pre season as well. The rest I am not sure have done enough yet.

We might get a look at Bolla if Hungary pick him when they play at the Molineux.

Agree with this but don’t forget Toti who was so good on loan we brought him back and played him before he was bizarrely dropped for an out of form Saiss.

Saturday:

Ryan Giles’ poor loan at Blackburn comes to an end with him not making the squad for the 4th game in a row

In contrast MGW played 78 mins, scored one, assisted one and got MOTM as Sheff Utd secured a playoff against Nottingham Forest. That is 11 goals and 9 assists in 35 games so far

MGW goal:
Dion Sanderson played the first 45 mins as QPR won 1-0 away at Swansea

Luke Matheson played 90 mins as S****horpe ended their stay in the football league with an emphatic 7-0 loss away at Bristol Rovers. That win secured automatic promotion for Bristol Rovers on GD at Northampton’s expense… by 1 goal o_O

St Mirren player of the year, Connor Ronan, was missing from their squad due to an ankle injury which means he will also miss the final two games. St Mirren secured their Scottish premiership stay with a 2-0 win over Dundee

Last game heartbreak for Jackson Smith as Kettering drew 1-1 away at Curzon Ashton which means they miss out on the play offs. Jackson played 90 mins

Andreas Sondergaard had a good game as he made a rare 90 min Hereford appearance in their final game of the season, losing 2-1 away at league winners Gateshead. Had it not been for a string of excellent saves, Hereford could have lost by a lot more

Louie Moulden played 90 mins as Ebbsfleet United beat Chelmsford 2-1 at home. Ebbsfleet look forward to the playoffs now

Nigel Lonwijk was an unused substitute as Sittard secured another vital win beating Twente 2-1 away from home. Sittard remain 3pts clear of relegation

Adama Traore played the final 15 mins as Barcelona secured yet another late win, 2-1 at Betis
