Ive always liked Conte. Think he's done well to get them to 4th but it's been obvious for months this was going to be his last season.
The week of going out in the da cup, losing to Wolves and going out to Milan was a bad one.
Bentancur injury has been a massive blow.
The slow first half performances the defensive football, it's exactly what Nuno was doing, only difference the players three Nuno under the bus at the first opportunity.

He spent plenty of time back in Italy so has probably already negotiated his next job.

Conte “outs” his players and the club.
No surprise he gets the sack.

But the players and club remain “outed”

The club, players and most pundits think he was “wrong” to do it.
I’m sure he had his own manipulative reasons for his actions, but can anyone deny there is some clear truth in what he said?

“super six” perennial under achievers.

There are many players in the Premier League that appear to fit the same profile.
Some are very close to home.

Levy has been owner for 20 years. All they have won in that time is the league cup in 2008. Just an average team.... that changes its manager every couple of years. They have had 11 since Levy took over. Is there a pattern here?

Yet despite their very limited success, Tottenham are still one of the Sky six, yet Leicester City who have won the league and FA Cup in recent years are just seen as being also rans. Which begs the question, why are Spurs seen as one of the big six?

They've got the best stadium in Europe. Must be an attraction to players and managers. But then again, maybe it's a millstone?

They finish in the top 6 virtually every year.

It might've had more impact criticising the players if he hadn't been the one who spent £188m on them in the summer!

I'd expect they are already negotiating with Nagelsmann, seems like a convenient time to get rid of Conte in that respect

"Funny old game" as Greavsie would have said. Spuds are 4th and current form is better than Brighton's, Newcastle's and Yernited's all who are feted as having good seasons. They will (almost) certainly finish in the top 6 and so qualify for Europe and have probably the best stadium in the world. Oh to be having it as bad as Tottenham!

Two trophies in 25 years (both League Cup) though.

For who they think they are, that's abysmal.

Maybe, but also regularly played in the Champion's League including getting to the final. Regular top 4/6 finishers in the Prem, no fear of relegation etc... Generating oodles of money and 50k+ crowds. For who we think we would like to be; that would be wonderful.

Oh without doubt. I'm sure all but 5-6 sides in English football would snap your hands off for that existence.

Spurs have a bunch of deeply unpleasant players, starting with Horseface, who think that they are much better than they actually are and that they just have to turn up to win. Add to that Levy, a man with all of the charm of an open cesspit, who makes Jizz look spendthrift and they have serious underlying issues.

Moving the head coach on is fine but it does not address those issues. Don't forget what those players, Horseface in particular, did to Nuno who they thought they were too good for.

Conte didn't give a toss and could speak his mind freely. His contract was up at the end of the season and it was apparent that he had no intention of renewing even if Spurs wanted him to. The only slight surprise is his assistant staying until the end of the season.

Rumours that Horseface will be involved in the process to select the next head coach tells you all that you need to know about the toxic atmosphere at that club.

He wasn't albeit he may have had some input.
Levy has always controlled transfers at Spurs and most of the time goes for the cheaper option. Hence the Evening Standard is full of similar stories to this....

For me they have been the biggest overachievers of the past 20 years. They are going to be in for a real shock over the next decade.

That table proves Conte's point perfectly. The only club in a very distinct elite bracket to not back it up with trophies, happy just to be in amongst the pack every year.

I seem to recall reading that Mauricio Pochettino would be interested in returning to Tottenham. Though that might just be paper talk.

With Conte leaving mainly because certain players are not motivated and refuse to follow certain tactics there is a slight similarity with us.
We certainly have 2 or 3 players who are quite clearly not motivated and in some games look as if they'd rather be somewhere else.
Not most of the players by any means but we do have some idle players who perform when they feel like it.
Lopetegui hasn't as far as I know alluded to this in public but I imagine he will have behind the scenes.

Lopetegui was made a "dizzying" offer to manage Spurs less than 2 years ago so I wonder if they'll be after him again.

Those of you belittling Tottenham's achievements should hang your heads. Have you any idea how difficult it is to finish third in a two-horse race? The end of the 2015/16 season was like a slow-motion car crash as they manage to simultaneously trip themselves up while cacking their own kecks. Was really special.

That all time premier league is interesting. Just praying we stay up and consolidate so we can overtake the cheating trotters and our sandwell friends in the near future.

I doubt it he hasn’t proved ever anything in the premier league yet. If we stay up and do well next season they might go after him but it’s unlikely in my opinion
