You really think this will mean proper regulation of football? The scope and objectives are so tightly defined so as to be meangless and the big six and sky hold all the power. It's a start and long overdue. For too long football has operated outside of the realms of good governance and it's about time it was properly regulated in the interest of wider society, rather than a few PL fatcats.
Probably not much in the near future if there is a change of Government?Interesting to see what actually happens if anything
Good point which looks likely Labour will winProbably not much in the near future if there is a change of Government?
Fair enough. My dealings with them were almost a decade ago so if they've improved all credit to them.I’ve found the FCA have improved massively in the last few years
It's a starting point. Well aware of issues regarding lobbying. For example Ofgem has been particularly ****e at dealing with energy companies, often favouring companies over consumers. You really think this will mean proper regulation of football? Ever heard of regulatory compliance?
Just look at this Government's attempts at regulating the Environment; Schools; Banks; Water; Gas & electricity; the National Grid; Dentists; Railways: Social care; Communications; Social Housing; Gambling...
Nothing significant will change. The regulators will just dine out on all the lobbying.
It may help, although the words horse and bolted come to mind. At least it will make fans feel that someone is there to look after our interests, which is exactly why it is being proposed. That and a pathetic attempt to buy a few more votes before an election. It's a starting point. Well aware of issues regarding lobbying. This government won't be in charge for much longer in any case, and at least having a regulator with a foot through the door will mean a base to work from for better governance of the game.
That's because the Financial Services industry has been more than decimated.I’ve found the FCA have improved massively in the last few years
