Most of the money off the Haaland deal is going into signing Adeyemi from Salzburg, which is a great signing.

To think they've still got easily over 100m to come from Bellingham inevitably leaving.

Shi should take note in how Dortmund operate imo
100% they buy the best potential players and make them better

Now this is something that costs money but once the balls rolling you are quids in

The cost of a player is salary and transfer payments amortized. Since Bosman more and more players have realized that high salary is better for them than a high transfer fee. Hence some top -layers could be very cheap( Messi. Moutinho)but command a high salary….the club wants the release clause high to tie down the player, but the player wants a low release so he can choose his destination and salary. This value was negotiated in the contract with Dortmund because they knew he would be leaving .without that clause he may have cost 150 million but be worth a lower salary as a result.

Makes clear sense when you know the system.
The salary isn't amortised, only the transfer fee. The salary is a simple loss against the P&L account, same as the wages of all other employees.

That's what they're already doing, isn't it? Just on a smaller scale.

They turned a profit on Jota and Mir, will do so on Neves. Didn't work with Cutrone, might not work with Silva, but that was surely the intent. Buy young players with the most potential and value that a club of our size can, improve them and showcase them, flip and reinvest.

Haaland scored something ridiculous like 16 in 30 for Molde & 29 in 22 for Red Bull. Hat tip to Dortmund for jumping in. All kinds of PL records could tumble if he stays relatively injury free.

That Martim Neto we had been linked to looked like a world beater in the Uefa Youth League Final against Salzburg. Out of contract in the summer we need to definatly bring him in because once he starts playing for Benfica's first team he will cost a fortune.

Yeah watched that game looked decent scored the first goal in the game if I remember correctly? Also had a decent striker who scored a hat-trick Henrique Araujo!

It’s how most well run clubs outside of the elite try and operate.
Dortmund are just well practiced in it, and have the advantages of their position in the bundesliga, as in massive support, near guaranteed champions league, and also guarantee starting places to these top young talents. Makes them an attractive prospect.

Make the right assurances/release clauses to make sure they won’t stand in the way when the time is right, and make sure they get paid out well on the deal.

The signings of Neves, Neto, RAN are exactly the same.
Come here and be a regular starter, raise your profile, prove yourself in the big leagues, then move to a big club at the right time with plenty of years left on contract so the club makes bank too. This is also why Mendes succeeds.
The alternative is rotting away on the bench at a super club by moving too early. No good for their career and only 1 good payday.
Play the system right and there are 2 or 3 increasingly big payoffs.

It does.
Most contracts don’t have one at all.
But he managed to get that relatively low release clause in his contract.
His agent played a bit of a blinder there!...
He likely wouldn't have gone there at all without it.

It's a huge plus for them that they can almost guarantee Champions League football. Wolves will always struggle to attract the best young players without some sort of regular European football. The Red Bull clubs have the same huge advantage.

Yeh agreed to an extent. Still PL football will still attract and also echo the points JonahWolf made above

Oh really, I didn’t know we were ever in for him tbh! It’d have to be a loan with no option which isn’t something we usually do, and as you say if Jesus goes then no chance.

We wanted him on loan in Jan but city sent him back to his parent club as part of the deal. Not sure he fits the profile we are looking at now

Another overhyped player from the German league lol
Will be very interesting to see how he does in the premier league. Will he start in most games? Will he hit the ground running? Should I include him in next season's fantasy football team or see how he starts? There are a number of highly rated strikers who have come here in the past who have not lived up to their reputations.

Pure speculation on my part but just had a look at the gestifute players on Jorge mendes list and noticed Nico Gonzalez has joined .....20, midfielder Barcelona.....(valued 20m) supposed to be a talent ....not many Spanish join Jorge ....

Obviously we are linked with palhinha and Nunes from sporting Lisbon but would Daniel branganca be a decent option from Jorge as well...
Good aye i......mystic meg or ITK......spotted this mid April and had a vision

Midfield of Nico and Palhinha then if Neves leaves?

He is very highly rated by them but isn't viewed as a starter so could be a similar situation to Neves back in the Championship where he left Porto for regular gametime.

Perhaps a loan to buy if they are willing to let him leave. They have a left back called Alejandro Balde who is also a Mendes client who has been back up to Alba but they want to sign a left back which will leave him as 3rd choice, could be a smart replacement for Marcal, would leave us with two potential future world class left backs in him and RAN

Fair to say Nico currently has a higher value than Adama and would unlikely be a straight swap option?

Has a deal until 2024, is only 20... probably a higher value and has played in most of their games this season (27 in total)

Maybe Adama plus a few beans would seal it

£375,000 per week! More than some people earn in 10 years!
Its a shame that no Man City fans will ever get to see him live though, if you follow the logic of some on here, the season tickets at City must be about £10,000 a pop in order to afford these players.

I think its either/or but not both - too similar.
Hmm I don't think they're all that similar, but I haven't seen a great deal of Palhinha to be fair.

Let's hope it's a midfield of Nico and Neves anyway.

I don't think Barca would be interested in swapping Adama for anyone at this point, I think that ship has sailed. He's struggling to even get on from the bench now.

I think we are in credit with Barca now. That's how the whole Mendes carousel thing works isn't it?

We probably paid them more than we should have for Semedo. We loaned them Traore for free.

So the fee for Gonzalez should probably be on the low side, or a straight swap for Adama!
