The sensible answer is to wait for the window to play out for better or for for worse. To hell with sensible!
It’s actually the most unpredictable we’ve been since our first season back.
On the worrying side, we have an untried new defensive shape (except for a couple of occasions under Nuno which, from memory, weren’t the best advert for a back 4!), a lack of reinforcement in midfield (as it stands today) and a bench that (again, as it stands) is somewhat overpopulated with young ‘uns.
On the other hand, we are giving youth a chance and the evidence from preseason and training points towards a more positive, attacking approach.
And that’s the thing. Our new shape and approach coupled with the current lack of bolstering is … risky. I think there will be more goals… just at both ends!
I consider us “solidly lower-mid table” at the moment.
