It’ll be £80k a week plus a massive initial signing-on bonus.

Actually think it’s a really ambitious signing for Forest. The squad they came up with were near certainties for relegation so they’ve had to spend big just to give themselves any chance. Have probably seen how much better squads such as Norwich have come up, not been prepared to risk it and ended up going straight back down without much of a fight.

Big risk but I personally think they’ve bought/loaned pretty well so far and reckon they’ll be surprisingly competitive.

This is true but promoted Fulham of 18/19 were apparently doing bits in the transfer market and promptly sunk without trace

Southampton doing some impressive business with the young talents they are signing this summer. Near to signing French striker Sekou Mara from Bordeaux.
I heard about him last season. A real talent. Only costing ten million. Cant understand why we arent targeting the French leagues more. Some real bargains to be had from there.
Think they struggle myself

Absolutely. And I still absolutely think they will be involved in a relegation battle. But I reckon they have given themselves a fighting chance.

Fulham’s biggest problem was their start to the season, when they hadn’t introduced a number of their signings. They were more competitive when players like Andersen, Tosin and Anguissa were introduced to the side.

Forest also have a better Manager than Scott Parker was at that stage…

It will be interesting to see how it goes for Forest. They have now signed 12 players so far this window, including 3 players at £17.5m, £17m and £17m respectively. Some of the signings are loans, including Dean Henderson and Lingard. Also Lewis O'Brien from Huddersfield who is highly rated.

Feels ambitious, but it could go pear shaped. It's a pretty much a whole new team and it might upset the camaraderie and momentum from last season. They are going to have to gel very quickly. When Fulham came up and did bits recently and changed most of the team, it failed miserably.
They needed, given the number of loanees that they had last season, pretty much a new team though.

In the last nigh on 10 years the only decent top flight spell Jesse Lingard has has was a few months at an in form West Ham side. Even 80k is an obscene amount for such an average player.

Surprised Everton or Villa didn’t make a late bid.

Yes, fair point. Will be interesting to see if they manage to gel together quickly. They have a good manager who has said that he buys players based on character and fitting in with the culture. I know many people expect them to do well but I think they might struggle unless the large majority of those signings are hits.

I think Forest will be ok based on the fact they seem to have a good manager. But I can’t stand Lingard and his ****ty dancing. I don’t even have social media and the bloke still winds me up.

He was brilliant during his brief spell at West Ham but he didn’t get anywhere near being a regular starter in last season’s Man Utd team which stunk out grounds up and down the land. There’s something not quite right with him.

Whenever we sign young players it’s a joke, but when others do we should’ve been in for them.

Standard behaviour on here pal. We’re doing alright!

To be honest I am all for signing a mixture of up and coming talents and first team ready players.

Seems like Forest’s transfer approach is “throw enough **** and hope some of it sticks”. Fulham did the same previously and it didn’t work.

That’s what you have to do now though.

It’s a risk you have to take.

We were just fortunate that we threw so much money into winning the champ that only a couple more signings were needed

Seems as though Forest have a bit more quality about them compared to that Fulham team

I dont know. I dont know half the players they have bought, theyve bought in at least two dick heads. Henderson and lingaard who were the main leaks from the dressing room at man u during the latter years of solskjaer and the manager they had in for 6 months when all these noises of discontent was coming out at man u.
There is A huge disparity in wages between the new signings and the existing players.
They came up on the back of an excellent second half of the season and had real momentum. Lose a few in the premier and heads will drop.
To me its a disaster waiting to happen. I expect them to start reasonably well but by mid season start to drop into the bottom third of the league and then struggle to win a game for the rest of the season.

Not sure that’s fair. I know very little about most of their signings but generally the comments seem to be they are good players and fans of the selling clubs seem to think they’ll do well. Proof of the pudding is in the eating and the one thing in their favour is Cooper seems to be a talented manager. The way he turned them around last season was very impressive.

That’s because you’re comparing what Forest could have to a Fulham side you now know from hindsight didn’t work.

At the time Fulham were signing those players there was more chatter about how well they’d do than there is currently with Forest. There was talk of top half from some at the time because they were showing real intent (read spending lots).

I actually really like Southampton 's approach. If they can stay up this year, they have a great springboard for the next few years.

Lingard supposedly on 180 according to a lad I worked with years back. Mad.

I genuinely hope it works out for them but I would not have spent money that way. Then again, I'm a moron.
I thought the Southampton approach was to loan 6 players from Chelsea.

Man City say they have other options in mind if Brighton demand too much for Cucurella.

I wonder if one of those options could be Ait Nouri?

Doubtful i think this is one where the options are within, plus the ego they have they will think they can get cucurella

It will come down to the player. If he asks to leave and downs tools, they'll reluctantly accept an 'undisclosed' fee that will probably be somewhere between £30 and £40m.

From what i have read so far he wants to go to city, and he didnt expect brighton to block him once they came in

Think Fulham will stay up this time. Forest, not so sure. Bournemouth hopefully doomed.

Lingard way over hyped don't see that signing working out but I think Forest's other signings have been good so far

2 very good signings on paper imo. I’ve said before how, if possible, I’d have loved Scamacca at Wolves - At the time I thought he was Inter or PSG bound tbh!

If West Ham pull that off, they’re probably the best bet for breaking into the top six this season. Big IF though, we’ve been linked with many top players and very rarely do they come off, especially when they’re leaked by the media to drum up more interest in said player.

All about whether they pull it off now, yeah. They were linked with Danjuma from Villareal not too long ago, but appears they wouldn’t stump up what was required.

Could potentially mean they face some stumbling blocks again with these two targets, although they did have a bid rejected of €50m for Darwin Nunez back in January - so they definitely have cash available to spend!

Irritating that we were absolutely miles ahead of them not long back. If you'd told me at the time that within a couple of years that they would leapfrog us and seriously be looking at the top 6 under the porn bros and Moyes, I'd have said you were mad. They've made some very good signings in that time though tbf
