I think bouba will be above him.....he was brilliant at times last night .....
I thought he was an entertaining liability
he gave the ball away for their shot and committed the foul for their free kick. Regularly caught in possession.

but he can also break the lines, get stuck in, and bomb forward
i still think he’s a risk against better teams

Watching some highlights of Doyle, he reminds me of Ward-Prowse. Not the most physically gifted, but he gets stuck in, passing range and vision second to none, excellent setpieces. He could be a gem. I think for now he probably slots in as Hodge's replacement as 4th choice.

Honestly, I'd say the set pieces likely put him above Traore.

Sarabia is our best in those situations. The only other player we have that is any good at them is Neto and he's not exactly a world beater on them.

I saw his Grandads many times. Mike was once voted City's hardest player. Didn't help in the 74 League Cup final.
Know you’re getting old when you can remember watching a new signings Grandad play….. how time flies.
And yes Mike Doyle was a fine player.
Hope he’s inherited some of his skills and toughness.

Pretty much everyone I know is a Sheff Utd fan and as mentioned on here, they think McAtee is the better player, but £5 mill for Doyle is a steal. Do the lower fees for McAtee and Nunes somehow help ffp calculations?

Liability is a bit harsh....he had a couple of moments that probably would have got punished in the premier league granted.....if he could cut that out he would be good....he was on his own in midfield or he it against Blackpool...... tactically I was sure where Hodge was playing at all....he seemed to be advanced leaving a gaping whole..

I wonder if Doyle will be part of the leadership group? He’s only young but has been a captain previously.

I would be surprised if he was ,down to his age and he will only be a loanee when he first joins .

Lots of good comments on the Blue moon forum and as above a JWP comparison, apparently very good with set pieces. Seems like we got a bargain here, who knows that 50% sellon could be negotiated in the future and dropped...

One thing I am happy with is that if we are in a battle I think he will be up for it . This season was never going to be easy and seems to have got harder due to off field BS but at least he will be up for the battle imo.

As long as he doesn't learn the Podence rolling and throwing your arms in the air as though he had been shot when someone sneezed by him then I think he will be ok .

Reading this post, he sounds like a Neves replacement. Deep lying midfielder, picks out a great pass, dead ball specialist, captain material having captained their youth sides…

Brought in to get the best out of big Sasa by the sounds of that.

We were? Much of Nuno's team were 'finished articles' when they arrived: Patricio, Boly, Saiss, Jonny, Neves, Jota, Jimenez, Traore, Moutinho - that's pretty much a full team. Your comment, which sadly is pretty much true, shows just how far we've declined as a Club. Gone in a few short seasons from Europe to relegation candidates. Sad.
But not on annual revenues of £160-180m. Simple! Sir!
