He was effectively replaced by Dawson!
The mistake was embarking on a project to develop a young player like him, and then giving up on it after half a season.

Yes, however that change was a decision made by JL to tighten us up and avoid relegation. There's the 2 ends of the stick: at one end, develop young players. At the other, don't get relegated. The two are both admirable targets, yet tend to pull against each other.

The mistake was getting rid of 3 experienced defenders who could have played alongside him. Also, our terrible record on buying attackers who can't score goals, so conceding 1 goal means we are in trouble. If we'd been strong elsewhere on the pitch, then we could have kept Collins as a mid-term development project, building his game time up until he was at that top level we wanted. (and that he will probably get to in a few seasons).

11 days and counting Mr Shi.............

Because if you don't start acting sharpish, its unlikely this Manager is going to keep us in the Premier League if we're bottom at Xmas.

i don't think they can act, there's no money. might squeeze a loan in but otherwise this is how it's going to be

it's like we're all strapped in, can see what's coming and can't avoid it. Nightmarish

We took a loan from the UK govt for that purpose instead didn't we?
no that was last year, just wanted reported until later on.

As a result, Wolves have received a £99million loan that the club will use for operational costs and to aid cash flow. The loan was taken out almost a year ago, but details have only recently been announced by the government.

Was taken out August 2022

Nothing has been done August 2023

That all looks a bit dodgy.

Just shows the amount of wealth they have when they can spend £25m on 3rd July, but right the player off and cancel his contract the next month! Obscene.

As the original Tweet suggests, keep an eye on Salah.

Al Ittihad already have 3 Egyptian players on their books, including ex Baggie Ahmed Hegazi.

Saudi clubs can have 8 foriegn players registered. It's believed Jota's departure is to make way for a bigger name.

So why would they keep some of the lesser known Egyptian players on their books over a new £25m signing unless they had a reason to?

Surprised we havent even looked at maquarie funding this year, which screams sale to me, do it for 3/4 years then suddenly stop, ie we dont want cashflow

Interest rates are 3 times higher than this time last year though!

The mistake was signing him when we needed experience in that area and the money to go on forward players.

He looks dreadful on the right. Gets the ball, runs, stops, turns back and kills all forward momentum. The contrast with how Brighton got the ball in early was both stark and frustrating.
We have good pace up top and very little physicality.. so delivery should be early and ideally low. Which will only be achieved by having wingers on their natural footing..

Infuriates me seeing Neto on the right.. slowing down play and crossing into the defenders instead of behind them.

If we’re gonna play Neto on the right then at least give him Sasa to aim for.

What a puzzling summer this is. Reports that we have been biddding for a CB or two up to £10m or less, absolute max, although in each case that has been substantially below current asking prices- so nothing happening. Is that £10m or so dependent on further sales? We don't really know. The continuing rumours re Cresswell and Antonio which at a time of financial stringency make no sense whatsoever, especially Cresswell.
A few rumours re Josh Brownhill but nothing solid at all. All striker/winger links gone a long time ago. No loans, option to buy deals or pursuits of free agents that seem credible so far. Celtic links for the sale of Podence but apparently his wages would be unaffordable....no links for Jonny whatsoever. The usual question marks over Fabio although for now it looks like he is staying. And so on.

Pretty much a complete summer of negativity, confusion, retreat and suicidal policy changes that risk catastrophic relegation this season. Poor recruitment and organisation last summer led to panic stations in January with an unplanned for overspend to keep us up, including paying Loptegui and his coaching team a fortune. Then, just as we were all feeling a bit more optimistic following good pre season performances, sacking them all after 9 months for another fortune in compensation. The loss of our star player. All now hinging on an inexperienced Garry O'Neil and two modest coaches proving the naysayers wrong. A good squad for him to work with on paper albeit badly needing a couple of additions. Two opening defeats- the latter a humiliation at home.

Shi back at last with Guo to actually meet the new manager in the flesh!. Good idea. Absolutely no positive news on ground improvements or forward momentum based on clear criteria for the club as a whole. Essentially a time when chickens have come home to roost due to over payment for and actual poor signings. The error on Guedes quite extraordinary with the risk of a huge loss on him- £15m plus perhaps. The whole 'advantage' of staying close with Mendes apparently blowing up in our face with huge question marks remaining over Fabio, Nunes and even Cunha, purchases that set the club back alone some £120 million , never mind their wages. Plus of course Guedes at £27.5m- so £147.5m thus far. And don't forget previously paying £30m plus for Semedo. Gomes, Traore, Dawson and Lemina at least reasonable value. Will Kaladjic stay fit? -supposedly he is the long needed Jiminez replacement but clear nervousness about his body's ability to survive the rough and tumble of the Premier League. No Plan B if he is injured again. What a surprise at a time when we are by far the lowest scorers in our league and have been so for two years plus.

So here we are praying that leaving things to the very last minute this Window will pay off with a couple of cut-price signings we all crave . Or is it all a bit of a con in the sense that if Podence is not sold there really is not a penny to spend on anyone -even on loan? So just make a few low bids (knowing they will never be accepted) that give the impression of some activity to appease supporters in the short term. Hobbs on Sept 1: "We tried so hard but its a tough market and we couldn't get anything over the line.....we and especially Gary are happy with what we have got...." Meanwhile all our rivals, many of whom have already significantly strengthened ,will be adding key players-even supposedly cash-strapped, crisis-ridden Everton!

The glorious aim this season. To avoid relegation. Just like in the good old days of Mick McCarthy.

So just thinking this through, effectively Talisca and Jota being told they can go because ahem they're not glamorous enough. How long before they think the same of Nuno and elsewhere, dare I say, Neves?

Might not be too long before we get the band back together.

Yes, and yet some on here still think they are a flash in the pan. They are not. They have cracked it. They have a strategy, great scouts, play attractive football, and let players go to bigger teams when the price is right.
I was speaking to a Brighton mate the other day and he said it's not so much about the scouts. Bloom has tweaked his gambling software to identify players with huge potential.
