Regards Brighton, Southampton were doing this a decade ago, they won **** all and ended up in the championship.

Because like Leicester, they stopped doing it and then went backwards fast. Just like us this season

No No.4 or No.9 in our squad list which has just been announced.

Surely that means the club expect a new CB and striker to come in?

Means nothing imo

You can see the "depth" in this. (which is limited)

24 players..

With Guedes getting a number.. as well as Jonny, Podence,

Guedes making the squad numbers is an interesting one, looks like he may be hanging around

Was just going to post this.

That list shows just how shallow our squad is…. That is pathetically small, not much cover for injury at the back.

We need some activity ASAP as with how card happy the refs were this weekend, suspensions are going to happen like the inevitable injuries that every team will have.

Agree on the CB. Regards a striker, it may just be that they don’t want to show favouritism to either Sasa or Fabio until they’ve both had a season to prove who is the new number 9. Or maybe those numbers have some meaning to them, and they didn’t want 9. It happens.

Exactly I rated this guy , they all need to be looked at by O’Neil

He will be able to be registered in the January Window

After the end of the mls season October followed by playoffs and most likely a break for him

  • February 25 – October 21
    (regular season)
  • October 25 – December 9
    (playoffs)

it’s far from pathetically small.

Ward Prowse joins West Ham for £30 million and Jack Harrison joins Everton on loan. Danjuma and Chermiti also joined them in recent weeks.

So we effectively have three new striking options in Sasa, Fabio and Guedes, replacing Raul and Diego from last season.

Though I do think that Guedes is still Benfica bound, only thing that may keep him here would be that the reason he left was down to his relationship with Bruno and then Lopetegui. You never know........ now where's those straws.......

We might just be playing a game with Benfica.....Buy guedes or we night not loan him you .....it maybe the route we are looking at for incoming money ...

Just a thought...or at least loan obligation...

He never wanted to come at all. I don't suppose being managed by a PE teacher helped matters initially, but Lopetegui certainly had no time for him whatsoever. Probably the worst signing in our history. The guy has ability, but thats nothing without application. £27 million and £3/4 million in wages last season for 8 appearances and 1 goal. 12 months later and we're completely skint and can't even sell the bloke!

exactly what got us into trouble in the first place. one or two more, fine but beyond that? not necessary.
We got bloody lucky with injuries in Nuno's first two seasons. Since then we have been well and truly bitten and have consistently struggled. That's why virtually every PL team looks to have depth in its squad.

The realistic answer to the number 9 issue, is we have already printed the Silva 29 shirts during pre season , and don’t want to pay the money to change them

look at some squads, made up of kids.
The likes of Tottenham however have several established players not making the 20, like Dier, Tananga and Regullion

that must be £200k a week not even on the bench.

Talking to friends from Portugal, they said it's gone very quiet on the Guedes to Benfica links. Also they don't believe Benfica would buy him this season and it's not a popular move with their fans.

So maybe a reason why they're trying to reintegrate Guedes with the squad.

That’s what I mean, we need 2 more.

Guedes is going, so that squad number is really one less as is the third keeper in reality.

The save he had to make in his pre-season appearance was made to look harder as his position was so poor. If he is ever called upon we are screwed…….

Loans aren’t free there’s a loan fee to pay which for whatever reason we can’t do now. Stupid to blame hobbs imo
We shouldn't be in such financial hardship that we can't even afford to pay a loan fee. If the finances are that bad shi has to be replaced by someone immediately. It shouldn't be feast or famine.

I’d have guedes back to be honest. Not much point in loaning him out and him not playing there
Don't you remember what happened the last time? He didn't want to be here, and it showed on the pitch. Like playing with 10 men. No, he has to go, on loan or for as much as Fosun can get. Like Cutrone before him, a real waste of money.

Definitely need a versatile CB preferably one with a bit of pace
We can manage most other areas
Not ideal but barring a miracle its where we are
