For a opening game, that was fairly decent!

The second half clearly wasn't the best and a need for a natural RWB is clear, BUT 2 early goals; both superbly taken and of which sucked the life out the Blades will do very nicely.

Had a good number of chances too and Romain Saiss shirt sales will no doubt rocket, after an outstanding display. Marcal pretty sturn on his debut and the competition down the left will be decent for many years.

1 good win; 2 sweet goals and a hard earned 3 points, is a lovely way to kick another crazy season off!

Complete opposite of most of the matches last season, when we had slow starts and grew into the games. This time, a lightening start when all players looked bright and on form and we gradually regressed into what was a poor second half, although SU didn't look like hurting us.
Thought Dendoncker had a decent hour and Saiss and Coady marshalled the back three well. Boly was average, but for most of the match had Traore in front of him who was limited defensively.
Still, a win's a win and a better start than many of us were predicting.

Thought we played well for the first 20 mins and then sat back for the rest of the game ...which is I suppose good game management.
My two take aways, we need two quality attacking wing backs....and we need to hide Jimenez away somewhere remote until the transfer window closes!

Good start. Nervous second half. Gave the ball away too much. Really needed to beat the press more often than we did. At the moment we look very much like last season. Rince and repeat. Very happy with the 3 points

Top drawer away performance with a great game against city now to look forward to.

Going forward we now have options as good as anyone in the entire league.

Saiss absolutely superb.

We are a new wing back, or two, from having a right old go this season.

Overall great performance
Traore fine going forward, a few good runs and shots, but a potential liability at the back
Looked lost, felt sorry for him, but he did try

Solid start, 3 points and another clean sheet. Jimenez and Saiss awesome. Definitely need a RWB signing as I can't see Traore playing there all season.

The win kind of takes the pressure off next Monday's game now.

opening game a win an a clean sheet so have to be pretty happy overall great opening 10-15 mins, maybe sat back a bit too much at times after that and let Sheffield back in a bit. A tie between Saiss and Raul for MOTM. Marcal a steady start nothing outstanding but no real mistakes either. Traore a 7 going forward a 4 in defense at times. (OK as wingback for the odd game but hopefully he won't be playing there all season) Overall we looked fairly sharp and good to see us make a fast start to the game, though typical Nuno to then manage the game by holding on to what we'd got rather than go on and score more but it worked and we kept the clean sheet. Movement and changing of positions of the forward line caused them a lot of problems

True, but I also sadly thought that Donk's haircut made him look like Jim Carrey's character in dumb and dumber.

Great result though.

What with Donk losing the buffant and Buur losing the curtains we really need to get Esteves in to help with the hair

Can only echo what’s already been said, Podence’s run and cross was sublime (I thought he’d screwed up by not picking out Neto) and Raul’s finish was pure world class. And while we did let them back into it in the second half we still could have scored another three. Fleck hitting the post was the only genuine scare they gave us really.

better start than last season. Still some of the same issues from last season tho where we give up possession for long periods at a time and we really need to learn to clear the ball better. We looked like we ran out of steam so it was important to get 2 of the 3 new boys involved. Adama is still a huge disruption to how the opponents play but sometimes he disrupts our game too, in a good way.

Couldn’t ask for much more than that, great win. Thought we were gonna win 30-0 after six minutes but the two will do!
Saiss MOTM, great games for Marcal Coady and Raul too. No one played badly though.

Sheffield looked like the team with no pre-season. Long season for them I think.

Terrific opening spell and we could have been 3-0 up within 7 mins. Not surprisingly we then managed the game all the way, content to hit them on the break and we really should have had that game sewn up when Raul missed after Saiss's strike that the keeper got a finger to to deflect onto the post. Pleasing performance but again you can see weaknesses when we don't pick the runner's up.

Patricio - not a lot to do but came for crosses and distribution was fine.
Boly - some good, some bad. Poor distribution at times still his weak point.
Coady - thought he got caught out of position a couple of times but there again, he was used to playing with a couple of donkey's last week.
Saiss - superb game and anyone saying he is a weak point needs their head examining. Absolutely gives his all and is starting to use his footballing intelligence. My MOM.
Traore - Good performance and some lovely pieces of skill at times.
Dendoncker - Very good, Used the ball well and calmed it down at the right times.
Moutinho - Back to his usual commanding performance and so much time on the ball.
Marcal - Very good debut. Solid and steady. Not many going to waltz past him this season.
Podence - Started very well and then drifted in and out of the game. Sometimes tries to over play instead of doing the simple things well..
Jimenez - pure quality and looked so sharp to begin with. Almost my MOM.
Neto - Lively but there's more to come from him. So much fun to watch though.
Burr - Didn't really make an impact but had a few safe touches.
Neves - Came on at the right time and we looked better as the last 15 mins just went by with no real threat.
Vitinho - Looks keen and eager but not enough time to make an impact.

Nuno - He knows what he's doing and I guess he saw in training the players who looked sharpest hence the line up. I questioned no Neves to start with but we absolutely steam rollered Donkey FC in the opening exchanges.

Overall a good three points and we competed with a very physical Blades team. They remind me of Wimbledon at times.... how long they can last playing this style of game will be interesting to see but much of their game is about being physical.

Massive result for us cannot see Sheffield United dropping to many points at home so to take our chances so clinically in the first half is amazing to see and our defence was class with Saiss being the pick of the bunch
Adama at RWB doesn’t work and the telling off he got at half time for the throw in told a story. Neto ran his socks off and Podence was cool on the ball and always looking for a pass
A good performance too from Moutinho and the Donk who in the first half controlled midfield well
Really delighted

That was a good win. The Blades are a very difficult side to play against. I would have settled for a draw but the three points was a bonus.

Good game. Excellent first half and less good second but still should of scored a few more in the second half.
Saiss is MotM, Sky Sports are frauds. Loved his burst forward and hitting the post. :D Should have had a hatrick and was brilliant defensively ... no yellow card either.
Marcal very composed in possession and good defensively, I am a Ruben V fan but can see why he would be trusted over.
Thrilled to see Buur get his PL debut, 3 years ago I wouldn't of seen that happening. Did absolutely fine.
Nice to see Vitinha, looked tidy. Hopefully he and Fabio will get their debuts against stoke.
Difficult game for Traore but he was back to being a proper handful when up front.
Neto and Podence excellent.
Raul is just class.. what a finish!!

Blistering start to the season, that opening half an hour was as good as anything we have served up for a long time. Brilliant. We then defended it and our fluid shape seemed harder to be as solid as we usually are but they still never really hurt us despite us trying to protect the RWB position. And the we could have picked them off several times in the second half on the break as we continued in a similar manner... would have liked a demolition after the opting 6 mins but a professional job was duly delivered

Patricio - 7 - Very solid, didn't put a foot wrong. Didn't need to make many outstanding saves but did everything he needed to well, good hands and some decent throw outs to counter
Boly - 7 - One or two misplaced passes but made up for that with some excellent defending and also had to cover for Adama and was often set upon by 3 Sheff U players so did well not to crumble under that pressure
Coady 8 - Didn't put a foot wrong. Organised the defence brilliantly as usual and I don't think gave the ball away all game
Saiss - 9 - MOTM and Brilliant. Could have had a hat-trick. Superb in possession, goal saving headers and tackles. Maybe mis best game in a Wolves shirt and didn't get booked. Top all action display
Traore - 6 - He was doing a job for us and filling in at the end of the day but it was a tough challenge for him. Sheff Utd targeting him as well didn't help but he was caught way way up the pitch too many times. Played well and was a big threat when moved up front
Marcal - 8 - Really good debut. What a snip he looks to be. Very solid defensively and although not blessed with massive pace, still provided good combinations going forward. Bargain
Moutinho - 7 - Typical Moutinho game. Excellent in possession and breaking up play... right back at it
Dendonker - 7 - As above. Typical Dendonker and covered a huge amount of ground and also found himself at RWB a lot to cover. Which looked like an instruction he was given
Neto - 8 - Ran his heart out, great going forward and some excellent attacking combinations. Hard to even know where he was playing at times as he was in the hole, then out wide. Very good
Podence - 8 - Brilliant wing play for the first goal and picked out Raul perfectly (not as Carragher said) and same as Neto, all over the front line and in the 10 position, superb fluid attacking display
Jimenez - 9 - Tremedious performance, classic Raul and only Saiss's bombastic display stopped him being MOTM. As Hinchcliffe said, unplayable in the first half, should have scored in the second but another brilliant centre forward display from our No.9

Subs
Burr - 7 - Came on and shored up the right. Simple passing, but solid. Well done
Neves N/A - Slotted in but didn't have chance to affect the game
Vitinha N/A - As above but got a couple of glimpses of a great touch that he possesses

As Carragher said at the end, they were asked the question which of these 2 sides could challenge the top 4, Only one answer after that

Excellent first half and a cagey second. Not quite Wolves at peak performance but some bursts of brilliance and resolute defending that helped us overcome a very organised Sheff Utd side.

Patricio claimed everything really well. 8

Marcal looked steady and competent. He fit the shape pretty well and didn't make any significant errors. 7

Boly had some good moments in the air but his concentration lapsed too often. Some silly passes, although I appreciate that he was under the cosh sometimes covering Traore. 6.5

Coady was captain fantastic. Good passing, heroic blocks and well timed tackles. 8

Saiss was omnipresent on the pitch. Goal line clearances, brave headers, thundering goal, he was amazing. 9

Traore continues to be an enigma and didn't play well at wing back. Occasionally he'd follow his man but he was out of position so often and made so many silly errors. He was much improved playing in a forward position. 6

Dendoncker pressed high and maintained possession seamlessly. 8

Mountinho switched play well and distributed cleverly from a deeper position. 8

Neto had some good mazy runs and got an assist for Saiss but looked a bit knackered and isolated. 7

Podence played with great intelligence and spirit. Good assist for Jimenez 8

Jimenez was the complete package. Ma
rvelous goal, strong hold up play, combative in the air. The guy truly is the complete striker. He has the honest hard work of Doyle and the mastery of the game of Ibrahimovic. 9

Thought we looked very good for half an hour then tired visibly. No surprise Neto was subbed first as he looked sagged after half an hour. I was a bit nervous that we might concede early in the second half and then fall away and we nearly did but then we steadied ourselves and despite playing some lazy and tired passes at times rode it out quite comfortably in the end.
Marcal has been bought in to do a job and you can see that he is safe pair of hands. Vininha was busy but got slightly lost at one point and didn't pick up anyone which led to blades getting a cross in that Coul have hurt us. He needs time to learn our system.
All in all a good start though. Hopefully we will have plenty of first teamers out against Stoke to get the fitness up.

Spent this evening logged on to the Sheffield United forum (just way of perspective) whilst listening to the commentary on radio!
Bottom line is they faced a top team reading their comments and are full of admiration regarding the investment and quality of our wonderful Wolves!
Things are certainly taking off in our parish I have no doubt!
