So if they had remained in the Prem they would of avoided any EFL fine?

Man City and Chelsea have got away with not braking the FFP rules.
Why should it be smaller clubs who seem to get picked on??

How much did Leicester and Bournemouth spend when in the championship?

Must be some truth behind this as they’ve spent nothing since being relegated.

Their joint owners have mega money so it looks like they’ve lost interest too

Don't know about Leicester but Bournemouth played much of their first season in the Premiership with seven or so (could be more) players from their time in League One.

But they are a poxy club with no history, tinpot ground and few fans. Their turnover would not have included any parachute payments so even spending £5m would likely have pushed them into illegal waters.

the rules have changed now and are more aligned between champ and prem league so fines can be handed out in the prem if you get promoted, which wasn't the case before and why QPR are only being fined now that hey are back in the champ not sure what would happen with B'mth and Leicester (may have broken champ rules, but got to prem before rules came into alignment)

It's not so much about the amount you spend or picking on the little clubs.

FFP was designed to ensure clubs spent at a sustainable level, to avoid situations like Portsmouth etc.

So there are strict rules about how much your wage bill as a percentage of your turnover and the losses a club can make over a rolling period. I think this is no more than 50% wages to turnover in the Championship and is now £39m losses over rolling 3 years (although a lot more for relegated Premier League sides).

Bournemouth's promotion season in 14/15 saw them make a loss of £38.3m, with a wage bill of £30.4m, on a turnover of £12.9m!! So wages of 235% of turnover!! They effectively gambled/cheated massively and got away with it.

Man City and Chelsea are in the top 10 clubs for turnover in the World, so can get away with high wage bills as it is more than sustainable based on their turnovers.

I don't buy into that at all as QPR have fell foul of Football League FFP rules so this has nothing to do with either Man City or Chelsea as they aren't in the Football League to break the same rules. Also Man City have fell foul of UEFA's FFP rules by being fined and having squad restrictions in place.

There's no fair play in football, the largest clubs have always looked after themselves and their own interests, even if it causes those below them problems.

They don't give a flying monkey about the tradition and need for a 92 club set up.

If Walsall go bust, why would Man City or Chelsea care? Have their owners even heard of Walsall.

Bournemouth are a Walsall having their moment in the sun, for now.

I agree. There are two sets of rules - one for the mega rich clubs, with greater leeway for spending in excess, which in turn attracts further investment in them, and smaller expenditure limits for everyone else. The EFL has tried to stop cheating your way to promotion, but the mega rich use the exact same methods to endure their monopoly of the Champions League places. The same levels of fine impact proportionally less on them when they are levied than on QPR or Bournemouth. They are the same clubs who bribed their way to a less competitive Champions League set up by threatening. - twice - to set up their own separate European competition to rival UEFA's. The Premier League has carefully ensured for a quarter century to ensure that a tiny % of their TV income drips down to the EFL, pretty much the same as how the City of London ensures that the mega rich in general lose only what is politically necessary to the rest of society and the state.

A lot of it was before all this came to happen and in reality that level of spending is why we now have FFP.

On another level though those owners have been particularly smart, they’ve both developed business plans based on maximizing commercial revenue and stockpiling young talent they can sell on for profit without ever having to play them.

The numbers those clubs work on are absolutely frightening.

Yeah. When they do finally have a bad season and get relegated, they have a large fine waiting!
They're struggling just now so if they do get relegated and the rules apply the same they could be in the crap as well.

Isn't it possible that we will be in trouble with FFP at some point, especially if we don't get promoted? i know we have a lot of loans, and have also invested in young players who we could probably sell on at a good profit if necessary, but we have certainly lived beyond our means over the last 2 seasons and relied on Fosun's cash injections
