Random statistic porn.

I love the idea that someone has been sitting on this data for goodness knows how long just waiting for him to score a 78th minute goal.
That my kind of completely random **** stat.
As one of my daughters kindly pointed out over dinner the other night after I’d regaled the family with a fun and what I thought interesting fact - ‘oh my god dad you know some crap facts - why?’

I shall see if they are interested in mr Suarez’s scoring prowess over dinner tomorrow, but suspect the dog will show me the most interest/attention.

I've just read he's the third player to do it after Ronaldo and Zlatan, so suddenly becomes less impressive. Messi must be fuming.

I love crap facts. There was a question on House Of Games tonight about the spikes on a stegosaurus' tail being called Thagomizers; not only did I already know that, I knew why/how they'd been called that. My wife and daughter just looked at me with that "for goodness sake" expression, because of course I would know this utterly nonsensical thing that is no use to anyone. It's a point of pride.

I get that incredulous look off the wife and kids all the time. Like you I have a mind full of pointless and random facts and love them

I know, right? It's an art. And then you go and forget a birthday or anniversary or something, and they're mad, and you have to explain, "Listen, the human brain is only so large, and it has to contain all this random stuff, so cut me some slack..." Tsk.

Player in Brazil kicks ref in the head when he didn't award his team a free kick

I saw the video of that earlier. It's one of the most disgusting things I've seen on a football pitch.

I don't want to watch it. Exasperating as referees can be that is utterly unacceptable. Hopefully jail time and a lifetime football ban to follow.

Newcastle take over not good news. Another team that will be minted and probably build an amazing squad.

For months many Newcastle fans have been pushing conspiracy theories about why the takeover was stopped. It was obvious from the start the Premier League couldn't allow people to buy Newcastle whilst they were facilitating the illegal broadcasting of the product they were buying into.

Now that issue looks to be resolved or will be soon, the takeover should go ahead. If it doesn't then Newcastle fans can start up their conspiracy theories again.

Why? will FFP be suspended for them?

will they be the new ‘best thing since sliced bread’?

I do struggle to keep up, is it still Leeds or Villa? West Ham maybe?
Leicester obviously as they are ripping up the league, Brentford must surely be approaching the bread slicer?Southampton were once, but think they’ve gone a bit stale….
Ooh nearly forgot about Brighton, but they must be moving into chocolate brioche babka territory now....

Everton, how could I forget Everton? they’ve been the best thing since sliced bread since well… since bread started to be sliced, went stale, changed the baker in charge of the slicer, seemed to be the best again, went stale ….. repeat until infinity

Spells the end for Bruce he will stick around for a nice pay off. You would expect big things from it if your Newcastle supporter.

Wow. Think I'll stick to the transfer threads!

Brighton player attested for sexual assault. Video of Yves Bissouma being handcuffed and taken out of a nightclub last night. Can't technically say it is him but hell of a coincidence if not.

If it ISN'T him, Brighton have had a really, really bad Wednesday all round.

Lets face it, 1 more mega rich club isn't going to change much from a Wolves point of view is it. But it's going to trigger the hell out of the current big 6 who will see yet another club battling for one of their precious 4 Champions League spots.

To a degree yes. They have the same restrictions as the rest of us. Difference in their case, is that with higher crowds and a larger fan base, they will have a higher ceiling for their squad investment than we do. So, should they appoint a top manager, then wealthy backers could assemble a decent squad.

Maybe.....maybe not.

Depends if they're a Wolves/Villa/Everton type owner (investment forthcoming but they want to see a return) or a Man City/Chelsea type owner ('Heres 20 quid - buy yourself something pretty. I don't need to see a receipt')

Hoping they drop out the league this season.

Is China’s Soccer Boom Going Bust?

This article from the NYT is worth a read as the Chinese government’s interest in football is fading. Will it affect Fosun’s interest ?
The article might be behind a paywall….maybe clear your history to view it.

China’s top soccer league — not so long ago heralded as the sport’s new frontier thanks to a half-decade of powerful support, ambitious owners and an era of untrammeled spending that lured top players with outsized salaries — is having an existential crisis. Companies that once spent tens of millions to acquire players now cannot pay their bills. China’s president, who once championed the sport, now faces far more serious priorities. And the country’s top division, the Super League, hasn’t played a game in months.

Just seen on SSN that Lukaku isn't happy at Chelsea and is pimping himself out for a move back to Inter.

Doesn't indicate a happy camp does it?! No wonder Tuchel was so touchy in his interview last night. All looked solid after their Champions League win and preparation for this season but could be about to fall apart

Lukaku can be a bloody good player but never seems happy anywhere for long.

Just about this ‘player welfare’.

Have just seen Rodgers is the latest manager moaning, seemingly after Vardy’s hamstring injury.

He has played two games since December 10.

His schedule this month was:

90 minutes on December 1.
26 minutes on December 5.
90 minutes on December 9.
90 minutes on December 22.
90 minutes on December 28.

Clearly, there’s nothing excessive about that.

Why are managers allowed to go unchallenged with their ****?

Pep wants five subs, didn’t use one against Brentford. Klopp all the time whinging.

A disgrace and they need calling out on their rubbish.
