Pretty sure Hennessey wont be in it mate! Takes at least 6 months for his injury/operation to heal enough for him to begin even light training.

Those are pretty big assumptions GoldForever! I don't think we'll have a realistic picture of the squad for another month at least...

I'd go for...

De Vries (assuming Wayne is not fit)

Foley
Berra
Stearman
Ward

Kightly
O'Hara (if 100% fit)
Henry
Hunt

Sigurdsson
Ebanks Blake

Sigurdsson wont be playing either as he's just signed for Spurs, Sigurdarson might though

Far too early to even consider naming the starting XI for Leeds.

Just to play along. If we had lost Jarvis and Fletcher and the rest of the squad was as it is now:

De Vries
Foley, Johnson, Berra, Ward
Kightly, Henry, Milijas, Hunt
Sigurdarson, Ebanks-Blake/Doyle

For me:

-------------------------De Vries---------------------

Foley-------------Berra-------------Batth---------Elokobi

---------------------Henry-------Davis------------------

Kightly------------------Guedioura-----------------Hammill

-------------------------Sigurdarsson---------------------

That is also going on the basis I am hoping O'Hara and Johnson will be sold as I feel we need a real fresh start.

It's fun to speculate:

De Vries

Foley
Batth
Berra
Ward

Henry
O'Hara

Kightly
Sigurdarson
Hunt

Doyle

Good Championship team, Doherty and Davis very unlucky to miss out, O'Hara picked fitness pending.

Aren't you all forgetting that Stale (allegedly) doesn't like to play with actual wingers as such (preferring his full backs to provide the width)

DeVries
Zubar, Batth, Berra, Ward
Henry, Davis
Kightly (free role) Guedioura, Milijas
Sigudarsson

Is this true?... haven't seen this mentioned anywhere myself.

My genuine feeling is that we will line up with something like the following:

-------------------------De Vries---------------------

Zubar-------------Berra-------------Johnson---------Ward

Kightly-----------Guedioura--------Milijas------------Sigurdarson

----------------Doyle-----------Ebanks-Blake-------------------

Still a VERY solid slide (Yes I know the back four is poor) if this is the case, and I'd still back us with this side to go straight back up even without Jarvis/Fletch. Onwards and upwards guys! :)

Mine would be:

De Vries
Foley Johnson Zubar Ward
Gued Milijas
Kightly O'Hara Hammil
Sigurdarsson

Probabloy be

De Vries
Zubar Johnson Batth Ward
O'Hara Davis Milijas Gued
Sigudarsson Ebanks-Blake

Unconvinced about that defence, but everything else isn't looking too bad.

Here, you'll enjoy reading this. It's the philosophy he looked to implement at Cologne however due to unforeseen circumstances with the politics at that club being an absolute disaster he was never given the power to do so. Let's hope he controls everything along with his assistant Johan Lange in terms of footballing matters.

Seem to remember reading it somewhere PLUS there's the "zonal marking" thing to take into consideration also

Well if it is true I'm definitely falling in love with him! :embarassed::D

Maybe someone can corroborate this.

Cheers.....actually now recall having read that.

Hmmm...it does seem that if you start off 4-4-2 and then revert to the rather odd 4-2-2-2 at times you won't be playing traditional winger types.....maybe he likes the more flexible/adaptive types.

Wardy is a defo...possibly Zubes too.

Having said all that I think we can take it from the recent articles that he plans for the 'environment' so is more likely to adapt to its demands... Basically we have no idea!

Well for the first game as it is a toughie I think he will be somewhat conservative with a 4-2-2.....without Jinky and Fletch he could even play George at LB and have Wardy wide left.....it's possible without Fletch he could bring in Griffo as I can't see him using Siggy straight off

For Leeds he could go with Henry and Gueds in the centre.

:D.... does anyone!?

Reading those two articles he's either rigid or he is highly flexible!:dong:

Haha my thoughts exactly, I suppose all we can do is wait until August...

I've just had a go at imgining the 4222. It looks bleak for Kights and Hammill with the full backs bombing on and still having to defend.

Is it in the Rules that if we sell "Jinky & Fletch" we can't replace them on the pitch?
We've been out the league for 3 years and all the rules have changed!!!!!

I'm not convinced Sigurdarson will be a starter in the first few games having seen the level he is currently playing at.

'Jinky' moved to Palace in about 2004. Got Muscat and Freedman and exchange if I recall. Not sure we can sell him again.

:D.....

If you know the names we can use them!..

We don't know if he wants like-for-like replacements.

He has stated that with any sales the end result should be that it makes us 'stronger'.......I don't know who he would have in mind....would they be available?....would they want to come here?

You could argue that with a bit of tinkering and tactical nos Kites and Hammill could occupy the JOH/Gued positions..... especially if one of Doyle or Siggy sat back a bit, this would enable the 2 behind to play a bit wider. I suppose that would be a 4 2 2 1 1 or 4 2 3 1...doesn't matter what you call it I guess
