The Great Western is a top-notch pub with great ale. I hope this is as good.
Hogshead is probably the best of the commercially bars in the centre.
Has anyone seen the Sky commercial for the World Darts? It is centered on the Great Western and if you look closely you can see a Wolves hat on the bar.
Well I went in last night and the best word to sum it up is average. Only two ales on (Hobgoblin and Directors) and place is pretty much devoid of any atmosphere - ok it's a Tuesday night so may be different on match days.
Positives, it seemed cheap (might be opening night promotions as didn't ask) and they've got lots of screens for the football.
I'll stick to the hogshead and Litten Tree...

Thanks for the feedback, Jack.
The pub seems to need a few Wolves fans in, to give it a push.
Any Billy Wright and/or Wolves 50s pics on the walls, or even Billy memorabilia?
Like one of his England caps, etc.
As it is a Billy Wright pub, one would expect a bit more than his name on the outside.
Don't get me wrong, there's lots of small pictures up all over the place but can't remember seeing any replica caps. It just didn't feel right for me and the fact it was marketed as a cask ale pub then only had two ales on was an instant disappointment.
It was a Tuesday night so may be different at weekends. Will give it a go on one of the match days.
Other thing is no children allowed, which is a good or bad thing depending on your situation...
Amber Taverns Chain pub. Say no more. Bet the usual rack of Carling / John Smiths / Stella / Strongbow is on show. These pubs are all the same.

Burton tells me the Prince Albert is rocking most nights.
Is this a bad point to say that my local is a pub called 'the Albion'?
