Birmingham manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed that Bacuna has reported it as racist abuse. I imagine this will particularly upset the Albion fans given their history with Regis, Cunningham and Batson. Really sad to see because they've been involved in a lot of anti-racism initiatives as a club for many years. Don't think this is another stick to beat them with as most of their fans will be furious. However, it does come from that same corner of fans, they obviously have an issue.

Utterly tinpot security, as we saw last Sunday. The only people they've tried to stop getting where they have authority to go is the police.
My lad and his mates had a token search at the turnstiles last week, to avoid it I simply stepped one pace to the left and entered via the next turnstile with no search whatsoever.

Which is why people get in with a smoke bomb.

By contrast, I remember the security at Watford for a Boro game I went to with my wife. Lad in front of me gets padded down. Security guard asks him to open his zipped up inside pocket of his puffer jacket, and out comes a packet of white tablets. Lad was escorted away, never to see that game.

They can't be held responsible for one idiot racist any more that we could be when we had one. Just depends how the stewarding actually dealt with it, from what we saw the stewards just seem to watch, I mean a player shouldn't need to be pointing this out.

You are correct but following last week's events on national TV this will attract more attention than it would normally.

Yeah, I’m not sure I’d be wanting to take one of his white tablets for my headache!

I was impressed the security guard found it. The lad’s jacket was padded, the bag was in an inside pocket, similar to one of those plastic bags you stick your liquids in for airport security, but stuffed with white tablets. Somewhat more than necessary for personal use I would assume! The guard was polite but firm, called over his supervisor, the lad was taken away, and he resumed searching fans in the queue. I’d never have known anything happened had I not been standing next in the queue watching it happen while I waited.

Always hear them described as a traditional family orientated club by the likes of WM. I've never heard them describe Wolves or Villa as being family orientated clubs.

If by family they mean the Adams family or those wonky eyed lunatics in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then fair enough.

They're still trying to say it's because of an idiot in the wrong section.
It wasn't that idiot that decided to pick a fight with stewards and assault police, or invade the pitch, or throw things at players, but hey, that doesn't fit the narrative.

Goldberg:

"people not steeped in English football culture will be put off by the things we saw last week and this week at The Hawthorns"

So it's okay is it, because those cretins were just displaying English football culture?! Bizarre comment.

There's still a lot of focus on the home corner, I watched the TV coverage and I can sort of see why as they have very little attention to where the real trouble was. Even in the Halfords though, and what seems likely made up stuff, that's not making dozens of fans run on the pitch from the Brummie Rd.

It's like the idea that if you repeat a lie often enough, then people start to believe it. Yes, there were some of our supporters in the home end. But this happens every match yet doesn't result in pitch invasion by home fans. Regardless of the reckless stupidity of celebrating while in the home end, only their fans were looking for trouble.

The drunk women on the pitch - how was that "caused* by a few Wolves fan in the home end? The bottle throwing that carried on even after the pitch invasion - what's that got to do with away fans? That scruffy old tramp who jumps up to kick someone in the back, then wander down half the pitch, I think that was caused by him being a bad tempered loser clearly looking for anyone to lash out at. No Wolves fans near him so he had to jump over a few rows to get to them.

There's a ton of video footage from TV and mobile phones and I haven't seen 1 second that shows Wolves fans "causing" trouble. Plenty of them trying to get away from it, though, while Albion low life are hitting anything in their way to get down to the pitch.

Took their bloody time!
A season ticket holder that was clearly pointed out by Bacuna at the time of the alleged abuse. What is wrong with the stewarding and policing at that wretched ground that he wasn't dealt with immediately?

He's no more under suspicion four days after the fact as he was on Saturday afternoon.

Did the police have to wait until the referee's report? Does Bacuna have better hearing than the fans standing right next to the bloke in question? That section of the ground have very recent previous - surely the stewarding and policing would have been within earshot. I'd have had my men (albeit jacket fillers) focused on that one area and met with the police to the same effect.

West Brom are going to be hit hard by the authorities. Their ground security management are going to have to be investigated with a view to a complete overhaul. They just don't look like they know their job.

while i agree with you, and i’m sure we’ve mentioned this before, sport here, particularly football is tribal.
The franchise model in the US and Canada takes away from that for me.
Free agency really destroyed that for us in the states, in my opinion. When I grew up in the 70s, players typically stayed on their teams for a decent amount of time. Loyalty went both ways. Now? Not only to players move around like crazy, but the teams move too! (thinking mainly of baseball and football rivalries)

*Caveat - I'm from San Diego so my perspective is one borne from bitterness - lost our basketball and football teams to those hated Angelenos to the north of us.

**Note - one of the attractions of English football to me is the tribal nature of it (and love the effects of relegation/promotion).

I tried to look at this and as far as I can work out the idiot at Wolves who abused Ferdinand was arrested on the spot at the time. So not sure why this has taken a few days. In the same was as you say that in a properly run stadium it shouldn't need a player to point out a fan to the stewards.

When there was an AH racially abusing Tammy Abraham from the SBU fans not only reported it but testified at the trial.

Lots in the press about 1 fan at the Albion Blues game.

Any updates regarding arrests of Albion fans following our game with them? It’s all gone a bit quiet, hope it’s not being brushed under the carpet.

I was thinking the same. It is now nearly two weeks since the game, and as far as I am aware no action has been taken by the authorities.

If you read their forums some fans have started receiving letters of immediate suspension from the stadium.
I really don't see why they should be rewarding these people.
