He has to be the academy option up front if we want to go that way simply because he has pace, but in all honesty we would be better sticking to using the real first team players and adapting our formation accordingly.

We will see more of him before the end of the season. One big thing that impressed me was he didn’t appear phased by the occasion. He made some good runs and has pace and got stuck in. Wouldn’t mind seeing him with Cunha as a ten.

Better than Fraser. But Fraser is ****, so hard to measure.

Can we just not with nonsense like this? It is fine to say that he probably isn't a top level player and shouldn't be our only go to at this stage in his development but lets not be just labeling him **** ffs!! Zero doubt the players read this stuff so how do you think this helps in any way?

Think you’re asking a lot for people to be measured and respectful. This is Molineux Mix.

Think we all get carried away at times but Fraser has played 4 games or so, it is a bit early to be destroying him, that is for sure.
Fraser was poor yesterday, but he’s a 19 year old making his second senior start, and he’s carrying a knock. Ridiculous to write him off.

Slandering a youth prospect who's been chucked in at the deep end is disgraceful as a fan.

There were experienced players on the pitch who did worse than Nathan Fraser yesterday. How do you expect a teenage center forward to have a good game when just about every other experienced player around him is having an off day.

I know people get emotional but just think a second before you post, it's out of order and completely unfair on the lad. If you feel the need to vent in that way, look to the experienced pros or even better just stay off here for a couple of days.

The straw clutching on this thread. Both Fraser and Chiwome are light years from being premier league strikers right now. No criticism, just the reality.

Silva at least looked like he deserved to be on the same pitch, most the time at least.

Signing Silva was madness, but letting him go on loan without brining anyone in was actually worse.
Agree with some of your points, Sedge.

Both Fraser and Chiwome are light years away from being Prem League strikers, however, yesterday they were playing against a Championship side and still didn't look great. Of course, they were surrounded by Wolves' players who also looked light years away from Premier League quality (with a couple of notable exceptions). ;)

Agree that signing Silva was madness (hindsight is great). Would he have done any better than Fraser or Chiwome? Not sure!

Not bringing in reinforcements in January was the biggest mistake. Even without hindsight, many predicted that our small squad wouldn't last the pace with injuries, loss of form and suspensions taking a toll. We are now paying for that mistake, big-time, although we are not likely to get a points deduction ala Everton and Forest, so it is what it is!

Chiwome looked very lively in what was a difficult game to make his debut. Would like to see more of him. He is highly regarded for a reason. Massive step up from youth to any first team in any division. To do this in the Premier League is so much harder. Can see him being in the squad for a while yet given our injuries.

Standard though.

STICK THE KIDS IN!
STICK THE KIDS IN!

WHY ARE WE PLAYING KIDS WHO AREN'T READY?

At least we've moved on from wondering if anyone who scores half a dozen goals for the u18s might be the new Bully.

Both he and Fraser need a loan next season. Once they've both bulked up a bit they'll be so much better for it.

He did nothing special but clearly has potential. Both he and Fraser are a good two or more years away from being Premier League ready. Ridiculous that they were being g asked to fill the gaping striker gap which was of the club's own making.

No one was really saying stick the kids in

We haven't got a pipeline of talent pushing the first team

Almost everyone was saying that not signing some back up was a gamble. A gamble we lost

Only turned 18 this year, impressive performance in that respect. Be interesting to see how he does on loan in the Championship next season, given he seems to be faster than Fraser perhaps he'll make an impact quicker.

Like the look of him. Unusual for such a tall striker to be so quick. Having that combination of being able to hold up the ball, being a threat aerially, and being able to run in behind are the foundations of a very good Premier League striker.

Could prove to be a very useful player over the next few seasons.

Sorry to be against the flow but I think neither him or Fraser are anywhere near this level at the moment. Also at a similar age I thought silva had far more to his game but had the weight of a giant price tag on him.

I really liked the look of him. Far more lean and mobile than Fraser. Quick in the tackle and liked to get stuck in. Early impressions but if we are still short of forwards for Villa would rather start him than Fraser.
Yet people still do it :(
Not at this Club they don't. The last young striker we bloodied and went on to have a great career was Robbie Keane. That must be 30 years ago now?

The commentator, after a minute of him being on the pitch pretty much said your first paragraph.

Neither are anywhere near ready for the first team, obviously, but hopefully one of them will be in time.

Leon has only had a cameo; he needs to play more to judge him. He may well soon be Prem level because of his attributes but let's wait & see

Kid looked quite calm and confident, like Chirewa. Positive!

It's a difficult one at the moment.

Do we go with a makeshift forward line using our more senior pros? Or do we blood the youth?

Tricky call being so close to European places. Every point and goal might make a big difference.

I know which one would be more exciting to watch though.

Seeing a potential front line of Sarabia, Chiwome and Lemina Jnr lining up against Villa is better than Doherty playing as a false 9!

Might as well see what they can do! They might surprise everyone - Villa included.

I would definitely rather stick with a formation and fill in any gaps with young players, than playing players out of position and adjusting how we play accordingly. No more Lemina out on the left. The more cohesion in the team, the better. There is a long term disadvantage in that eventually opponents know how you will play (big part of Nuno's problems, in the end). But being as badly organised as we were last week (and have been close to on several other occasions recently) is worse.

Great - let’s write-off another youngster. Do Wolves fans have no brains at all? Lads read this rubbish. Confidence is fragile and so easily destroyed. Shame on you for such carefully considered opinions which are - of course - entirely your right. Pity you don’t keep them to yourself.

Watching both Chiwome and Fraser on Saturday was just like watching Fabio three years ago - none of them being remotely ready when we threw them in. Young players should have to earn their position in a team like ours, not just find themselves there by default.

Fabio didn't deserve to be there three years ago and clearly didn't deserve £35 mill being spent on him. But with 28 senior goals, 14 senior assists and 10 goals for Portugal U21s, there can be little doubt he has done more in his career to earn the opportunity to lead our front line than Fraser and Chiwome. They are three years behind him in their development and only desperation has them in the team- the same desperation that meant Fabio was in the team three years ago.

History is repeating itself and we are not learning lessons.

Very different circumstances though. Fabio (wrongly) was brought in to compete straight away. If it wasn’t for having 4 forward players injured at the same time, neither Fraser or Chiwome would be anywhere near getting game time with us.

I’d have kept Fabio in the window but clearly a mix of getting him off the wage bill and something going on behind the scenes, GON didn’t want him and wasn’t going to use him.
