Agree, my first game was in 1945 and I am so disappointed now despite the Bhatti brothers and other misfortunes. What's up with a company as large as Fosun that they can't get some quality football advice? Can I just say this? Whoever gets the job, right now I am just so relieved that Bruno has gone. I am getting on a bit (74 a couple of days ago) and I was seriously thinking I would stop going if he continued in the job. The nights are drawing in and the attractions of night games that mean I get home at 11.30 are wearing thin, specially if what I am likely to have witnessed in the previous two hours is a borefest of low intensity sideways passing and one goal if I'm lucky. There has GOT to be more to football than that. My first Wolves game was in 1954, and I must have seen over 1000 games. I have never felt as turned off from football as in the last couple of years. Please, Wolves management, gives us back a bit of EXCITEMENT, DRAMA and ENTERTAINMENT before I get too knackered to make the fortnightly pilgrimage. BSK
I don't think they realised how expensive it is. They try to cut corners and they are finding out that it's a false economy. Lage was appointed because he was cheap. Sellars is also very run of the mill considering the role he has. Both were a waste of money in my opinion and have taken /are still taking the club backwards.Agree, my first game was in 1945 and I am so disappointed now despite the Bhatti brothers and other misfortunes. I'd absolutely love a British manager. They can do it - Eddie Howe at Newcastle and Potter at Brighton are stand-out examples. Really can't think of any others though who could match the brief at Wolves. Are there any British managers worth a look? See what Steve Clarke has done with Scotland!
Rodgers will be out of work soonI'd absolutely love a British manager. They can do it - Eddie Howe at Newcastle and Potter at Brighton are stand-out examples. Really can't think of any others though who could match the brief at Wolves.
Correct. In order to get in players they balanced the wages by shipping out Doherty, Traore, Silva, Boly, Coady. We are now very close to a crisis at the back as well as the front, it's obvious what that will spell no matter who comes in to manage us.I don't think they realised how expensive it is. You will feel a lot better when we start winningGratefully knocked away games on the head and only bothered with 2 home games so far, health also an issue but far easier to just watch at home, turn off and pour another glass of whisky.. Feel for you, as from my time on here know you're one of the good guys despitre your politics!
Bill McGarry ?Since Cullis when have Wolves had a top manager?
We have had decent ones average ones and down right awful ones aplenty, but i cant name what you would call a top top manager
Probably closest would be Taylor and that ended well
So expecting anything different is more in hope than expectation isnt it?
Great post .The shortlist (and my rating)
1. Amorim (Main target 8.5/10)
Pros
Why, rising upcoming star from Portuguese league, proven ability in the league and got an amazing tune out of nunes. Plays a 3-4-3 mainly but has showed like the results against spurs that he can get a team moving forward.
Mendes client and Portuguese
Cons
Only managed in the Portuguese league, big 30m release clause, going to be extremely hard to persuade into the project. Still a gamble as was lage, to see if he will adapt quickly and to the squad.
2. Lopetugi (8/10)
Pros
Previous champions league experience, proven record in la liga with sevilla.
Struggling with Sevilla but still in management, prefers a 4-3-3 attacking formation which is probably the second best formation for the current squad.
Most experienced and most "winningest" manager on the list - also mendes client.
Cons
Notoriously plays a defensive style of football, will still require prying from Sevilla, although looks like he may be out the door.
3. AVB - (8.5/10) (my personal choice over Amorim due to his experience - in prem)
Pros
That he is outspoken and will want to get **** done, previous premier league experience. Portuguese speaker as well as good English, plays a 4-2-3-1, best formation for the current squad in my opininion.
Free agent
Cons
Been out of work for a while, appeared to fall out of love with football, very outspoken and could easily go to war with fosun and unharmonized the club
4. Martins (6/10)
Pros -
Won in the greek league, and again a Portuguese speaker, also managed Rio AVE, tends to play a 4-2-3-1, which is probably the best formation for the current squad.
Mendes Client
PPM 1.72
Cons
Just turned down the hull city role, been out of management, and managed an olympiakos side which basically could easily roll the league.
Not when he joined us only won the second division with Ipswich previouslyBill McGarry ?
But the question was when have we had top manager. Not when he joined us only won the second division with Ipswich previously
I was about when Cullis was manager lolBut the question was when have we had top manager.
Do you think he was.
Were you about then.
Pray that is guesswork. Useless manager.
Dunno how legit this is, but if Ole is the choice then we are ****ed
Based on that one tweet from an unreliable account on Twitter which is referenced in the article. Nothing in it.

Ole's at the wheel...

Why would we want a British manager? Most of them are trash and we don't benefit in any way over having a foreign manager
John Barnwell and Richie Barker. Two FA Cup semi finals, a League Cup win and 6th place in the League, all in three seasons.Since Cullis when have Wolves had a top manager?
