Wolves team of the decade 2001-2010

[Wolves in Limerick]

I was looking at the other thread which is seeking a Championship team of the decade. Not covering the same period, but care to nominate your team of the 1st. Decade of the 21st. Century. Here is my selection: Murray; McNamara; Irwin; Lescott; Craddock; Rae; Ince; Kightly; Jarvis; Miller and SEB.

Does this judge their performance for Wolves at the time or how good they were as a player?

e.g. Karl Henry did a fantastic job for Wolves under Mick McCarthy for many more years than Ince did for Dave Jones, but you'd rate Ince as the better player at their peaks.

I presume it has to be at their best for Wolves, which is why I would put Foley in.

I disagree on your Henry / Ince point, but it's all about opinions.

Think you have to have Doyle in there for his performances between Summer 2009 and the end of 2010. Karl Henry must be close too.

It's 2000-2009 though, so you are putting Doyle in based on 5 months and Sako, Fletcher and Dicko are ineligible

It's a testament to some of the great players we've had that I can't see a player getting past Lescott and Craddock in the centre of defence were we to do a 2001-2020 team.

Seeing these players laid out like this makes you realise how much of a shame it is that we ended up not properly establishing ourselves in the top flight

Surprised not to see Seyi Olifinjana in some teams. Scored more goals than Alex Rae and was a premier league player playing in our championship team for a few seasons. Got there eventually with Stoke and Hull.

George Ndah is pure indulgence on my part, absolutely loved watching him play, without the injuries he'd have been a shoe in. Cameron was a hugely underrated player, in today's market he'd be worth absolute millions I reckon, box to box, could score goals, good set pieces. Honourable mentions to Newton, Butler, Pollet, Breen, Naylor, Rae, Blake, SEB and Keogh.

Horrible leaving Ince out but there was just something about Rae and Cameron together in midfield during the mid to pre choke part of the season in 01-02 that was unforgettable.

What I would give for genuine winners in the centre of the park like Ince/Cameron/Rae now though.

It really is testament to Dave Jones and the team he put together that 9 of the 11 (10 including Ince) are in that side though.
