Whats everyones thoughts on the 'Wolf Pack' buzz words we have heard and seen on wolves branding? Big Jeff seems to love it.

I don't know why but makes me cringe a little

If it's good enough for our illustrious friends from the East, then it's good enough for me.

It's all fairly predictable and generic, but better than that cheap and nasty roller coaster gimmick Jez foisted on us.

Nothing wrong with it and everything right about it.

He just wants to create an identity and develop unity, propagate that sense off being together for that single purpose. #WeAreWolves/WolvesAreWe!

It is a famous "jungle Book" quote. Often read by kids of my generation. Or even watch the last movie made in 2016. It's there.

Grubbyears beat me to it.

You said "buzz words". Something that has been around for decades hardly qualifies as that. Associated with wolves (as in Wolverhampton wanderers)? Probably not. But it should have been. In my opinion it's a great motto.

I don't mind it at all but I have to admit, the first time I heard Jeff talking about a "Wolf Pack" I immediately had a vision of all the players stood on a roof in Vegas whilst Jeff read from a piece of paper he'd got out of his man-bag!

Maybe that's why the Talisca deal is taking so long, he's gone missing and Butti and Thelwell are running round casinos trying to remember the last time they saw him!

Wolf pack??? - I think of ze germans & their untersee boats. :D

Seriously I think its something we're going to have to get used to. It will be part of a bigger marketing ploy. (maybe even one of the reasons the club was targeted for purchase rather than other more affluent clubs) - it will create a sense of belonging for our new legion of fans as the Wolves brand is sold globally.

I like it. I use it on FIFA when I have chance to play haha however that was more due to The Hangover film. In all seriousness though to maximise the club as a brand abroad quotes/phrases like these can have a really positive impact and makes the marketing side much easier than having a brand without such potential identity. If it's easier for Jeff to put us out there in China as the Wolf Pack then why not.

If I could post properly I could explain this in depth, I've previously tried but not been allowed to.

It's a Chinese Corporate Strategy that was invented in 2004 and has taken over Chinese business. Traditionally in China, the wolf is bad, rural Chinese see wolves killing their livestock, and the wolf was associated with Genghis Khan, who wasn't exactly their favourite guy.

But in 2004 the Chinese Corporate culture started to adopt the wolf, or rather wolf-pack, as their symbol. The wolf-pack is enterprising and competes fiercely to win in markets where survival of the fittest is the rule (like Western Capitalism), but as a pack - in a team and for benefit of its community (like Chinese Communism). So the wolf-pack is the symbol of merging old and new / future China. It's apparently massive in China among their more modern / progressive, outward looking middle class where most of their wealth is, and is exactly the market in China Fosun target with all of their brands. It also makes Wolves slightly edgy for them, giving us drama and a perfect basis to be supported against more bland brands like Baggies or Villa, who their rural / working class might be more inclined to lean toward.

It gives Wolves FC a massive opportunity in China, to be potentially the biggest English club there, as we fit into their existing 'wolf-chic' culture. And it means we work as a perfect leading champion identity for the entire £46billion Fosun group to the rest of the World.

It's described a bit in this Chinese article...

http://www.bjreview.cn/EN/06-23-e/zm-1.htm

And there's loads of evidence that this is what Fosun are about. On the day of Walters official unveiling / first press conference (I think Monday last week?) on Nathan Judah's twitter, there's a picture of a new photo backdrop Fosun have introduced, that stats "The Strength of the Wolf is in the Pack". Chinese corporate wolf-spirit is all about passion / dedication, fire, attacking desire and team spirit, which is why I think they ditched Kenny cuz after a few meetings with him they realised he was lacking those qualities to be their wolf-pack leader, and is why they went with Walter, cuz he is a wolf and has the passion and motivational skills to make the team a wolf pack, and us as 12th man/wolf with them.

I don't think many realise how good a thing we are on with Fosun, how lucky we are to have Walter cuz he is such a perfect fit, how massive this will be, how it's all due to our wolves identity and passion.

What a good job the town wasn't founded by Lady Thrush and called Throstlehampton.

I think it's probably the most valid, least cringe-worthy thing possible. We are Wolves from Lady Wulfrun, for over a thousand years (unlike Hulls Tiger that is made up), and Saxon Wolf lore was derived from pagan, wasn't properly recorded but will have been effectively same as pagan Viking view of it. They saw wolves as potentially divine beings, they even had a cult of the wolf, Ulfhednar like my user name, who wore wolf skins in battle and were their most elite warriors (via speed and precision, rather than furious strength like the Berserks, who were into the bear), and is where the legend of werewolves came from. They were (W)Odins men, like Wednesfield is his field.

And it's very handy. Look at Hull, they had an owner who only bought them because he thought he could market them in Asia as 'Tigers' and wanted the clubs name changing to that, but the FA stopped him as it's not got anything to do with Hull, so he put the club back up for sale. While Fosun said the most attractive thing about buying us was that we are Wolves, and so marketable abroad / in China as Wolves FC, unlike clubs named after meaningless English towns that people in China would find it hard to relate to, like Hull.

And Chinese wolf-spirit it is a great working methodology, particularly for us. Like Ince said, we are most passionate fans in England, ignored like under last regime, our passion has been frustrated, become negative and got under the clubs feet a bit (maybe like at Preston carpark). But our passion embraced by Fosun & Walter, harnessed and put to good use, our passion really could be the 12th man and help in our success.
