There's a 'both sides' narrative going round though. Albion fans of course saying it's all our fault, neutrals saying we're all a disgrace.

If you watch the footage, the trouble at the Wolves end was entirely with the WBA fans in the corner next to them, as it was when I was there for the WBA v Boro game. Police also had to intervene in that game and remove some Baggies idiots throwing objects at the pitch and away fans.

The fans on the pitch were Baggies fans trying to taunt the Wolves fans or playing with the ball. Both drunk by the look of it, and nothing to do with Wolves.

At the other end, it was the Baggies home end where the main trouble was. It was speculation that Wolves fans had gotten in there, but even if true, that’s down to WBA fans selling their tickets to Wolves fans on the grey market, not official Wolves fans. Most likely they stupidly celebrated when the second goal went in, and upset, drunk, idiot WBA fans attacked them. In other grounds, had away fans celebrated in the home end, most likely it would be noticed or reported to the stewards, and those fans removed or told to shut up. Either way, it’s down to WBA FC not Wolves if there was trouble down there as these tickets wouldn’t have been sold via Wolves. The fact that WBA players escorted their families from the affected area, suggests trouble was in or near the hospitality area.

The way all those Tescos ran on the pitch to kick off was like last orders being called at the Toby Carvery

All their idiots came out for this game. If you watch the different videos from fans, they're nearly all 50+ in age. Probably haven't thrown a punch since the 90s.
Ours would probably have done the same had it gone to a replay.....

Another massive plus was watching the game without VAR.

No stop and starting the game to check one of the numerous handballs they called for, or whether Cunha was half an inch ahead of the final defender for the goal. Just instant decisions and enjoying the moments you should. Everyone gets on with it and we have football back. It's just so ****ing obvious how much better it is.

Agreed and I actually thought the ref was pretty good

Well, here's proof of a Wolves hooligan taunting the West Brom fans. That's what it sounded like on the phone-in.

So the early kick off, and the decision not to give Wolves' fans have another 1700 tickets was to reduce trouble
In a perverse way the decision to not give us more tickets backfired, I got my ticket through a family member who supports the s***, I’m too old in the tooth to instigate or react to trouble, but I must have been to 20 Black Country derbies and have seen wolves fans in their ends almost every time.

BBC says both sets of fans were throwing missiles, trying to do a bit of The Sun?

I think they’re referencing the BBC Reporter, who talked about the flares thrown in the Wolves end, and the bottles thrown by the Baggies fans at Doyle. Of course, for the Sun and other outlets, that gets shortened into both sets of fans throwing missiles without any context. I could for instance have said that at the Chelsea v Boro game last week, “missiles” were thrown by both, as both sets of fans threw flares despite there being pyro dogs checking fans as they arrived.

Yep, they can chuck VAR for me. Like watching football in the good old days, with a punch-up to boot! :)

Bull****.

I grew up going to games against Albion home and away.

Very little if any trouble. People worked together, went to school together and were often in the same extended families. Your football club was a matter of banter, not violence.

It's an invention of the 70s that has metastasised.

Let's not further the myth.
Its not a myth anymore though. The 70s were five decades ago. Most of us only remember this derby as a nasty one. This is far less of an invention or myth than the "villa derby" we contest now.

It wasn’t the best game but it was great to just watch it without the constant meddling and stop start nonsense, it would have probably ended 5-4 with three sendings off if the var idiots were involved.

Wolves in the home end? So what? Really don’t understand what that has to do with anything.

The Albion fans, large chunks of them anyway, were a ****in embarrassment throughout. That corner by the smethwick end….Jesus Christ.
Agreed. Sad ****ers spending money doing the hand job sign to our fans all afternoon. Tragic
