@Wonder Boyo leads by a single point after the first day, hitting 3 correct scores but adopting a risky strategy of only taking points from 4 of 9 games - only the bottom two have fired more blanks than Boyo's 5. The maverick.

@Contrarian is the only other player to have got more than 1 correct score, adding Villa to Fulham yesterday evening. He's in 2nd with 18, whilst @Chris H has 17 and is the most consistent player, taking points from 6 games, more than anyone else. Intriguingly, Chris and Boyo have identical predictions for today's three Premier League games, which means they'll either be skipping up the hill in tandem to lead, or they'll both trip and falter as they get overtaken.

@giantwolf has sadly stalled at the start line, too busy building sandcastles to have collected a single correct score as yet, but like a big orange tarantula with a knife he's too dangerous to be ignored. His time will come.

Weird, isn't it? At least three times over the weekend I've checked scores and thought to myself "Hmm, what did I predict for this one...?" and then remember. It's rubbish!

The Cup lead changes hands as @Evthewolf smashes in 14 points from today's 5 games so far, and is now on 30 points overall, thanks to having the plums to plump for 3-0 to the Cherries. @Wonder Boyo and @Contrarian continue to cruise along in 2nd and 3rd, but the big turnaround of the day is for @giantwolf - did I say big orange tarantula with a knife? Make that an AK-47. Giant just scored the first asterisk correct score of the Fruit Bowl thanks to Chris Wood's Man City only achieving a 2-0 win, and there's now just 3 points between the bottom 5. @Chris H will feel aggrieved that his 0-0 prediction for Rennes v Brest was scuppered by just the 9 goals in a 4-5 thriller. Goals Galore, we miss you.

Apologies, one of my formulae was skewed and a couple of update results last week were slightly wrong. I've now enlisted the expertise of Mark Clattenburg, who suddenly became available for employment for reasons unknown, and calculations are back on track.

@Evthewolf still leads, but only by 2 points from @Chris H and 3 from @Wonder Boyo , with no one really making much headway in the past couple of days of odd results (as an aside, of the 28 asterisks played so far, 9 - 32% - have scored zilch and only one has been a 10-point hit, for @giantwolf ). @Don Corleone has had an uplift in form, meaning he's still in with a chance, but @purplepault69 is a straggler and needs to give it some oomph today if he wants to get back into contention.

Saturday has 9 games and 23 asterisks, so it could be a make-or-break day for some. Keep an eye on Le Havre v Strasbourg, where opinion is most split.
