Week 32 Results
As the dust settles and eyes turn expectantly towards the overall table, let's take a moment to congratulate the final weekly winner of year three, as Don Corleone collects his second Award of the season. The dastardly Don hit two asterisk correct scores (the fourth time he's done that this campaign) with Villa and Fulham on his way to 36 points, outpacing all challengers - including Leominster Wolf, winner of week 1, who very almost finished out our competition with beautiful symmetry. But didn't. He ended with 31 points and 2 correct, one doubled.
Geowolf had a brilliant end to the season, finishing off with 30 points and 3 correct, the joint best of the round, doubling Fulham. SuperGran (along with Mrs Spoon, who isn't real, the way that SuperGran is) was the other player to hit 3 correct, whilst Baboon was the other player to strike a double asterisk - also his fourth such feat of the year. Are Baboon and Don Corleone one and the same? Only the keenest eye can tell them apart.
Special mentions of the week go to Geowolf for Man City's 1-0 and NevesWolf for Everton's win over Forest. He's a secret Luton fan, allegedly.
Lemon Cup Final Standings
Geowolf's recent excellence is rewarded with a big shiny Lemon, with which he doesn't make lemonade but instead hurls it into the mix of the upcoming Fruit Bowl like a citrusy yellow grenade. He finishes on 125 points with 10 correct scores in the last 4 weeks, well clear of previous greedy Cup qualifiers Contrarian, Don Corleone and Wonder Boyo, and SingYourHeartsOut, who understandably took his eye of the ball with certain other competitions.

Yes folks, it's confirmed - it's a Purple Reign that Prince would be proud of. Purplepault69 was peerless for the middle third of the season and then kept on chugging week after week until he secured the title, amassing 805 points, 57 correct scores, 10 asterisk 10-pointers, 4 weekly wins and a Tangerine Cup. Purple hammered away points from 9 out of 15 fixtures in a tricky final week, and Diogo Jota scored the all-important third in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Fulham, a correct score worth not only 5 points for the champion but taking points away from those who had 2-1 instead. Congratulations, The Purple One!
Cup maestro Chris H finished a creditable 2nd, finishing on 789 points with 48 correct scores, 14 of which came in the last 7 weeks as he stepped up his title challenge. Contrarian pipped Giantwolf for 3rd place, with 785 points and 52 correct scores to Giant's 784 and 45 correct. Chris H and Contrarian both hit 13 10-pointers this campaign, second only to Wonder Boyo, who somehow managed a humungous 16 of those starry blighters.
Our other Top 10 finishers, qualifying for the imaginatively named Top 10 Cup, are Huge Of Sharjah, Evthewolf, Wonder Boyo, Baboon, CelebrityWolf and Jrpb-3, with Don Corleone unlucky not to break into the elite after his final week success. Don missed a week, meaning that he was easily the highest placed player to have done so, and it cost him dearly in the end.

It came down to the final game of the season, and anything less than four goals would have seen SuziQ snatch the championship, but SingYourHeartsOut watched on with glee as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-2 to guide him to the top podium by 2 precious points. Sing finished on 266 to SuziQ's 264, with Bigcheese a valiant 3rd on 263, gifting us with a thrilling denouement. 6 players ended with more positive points than SingYourHeartsOut but he was unmatched at picking the magical minus scores, in some strange interpretation of "defences win you championships".

Thanks @The Wolf In The North for managing the tricky task of inventing a competition I could win. I suspect the fact that it took half the competitors a few weeks to work out how the scoring worked probably helped me get an early lead I've been frittering away since Christmas. Also thanks to Ligue Un for providing such reliably low scoring fixtures.

I had a few interesting weeks where I did pretty well but in the end a disappointing second half to the season meant that I was heading for the relegation zone and was never going to be invited to the Super Fruits League.
