As I believe Gary Lineker once famously said, the Prediction League is a simple game - you pick your scores, fret for a weekend, and in the end, Purplepault69 wins. In what is becoming something of a procession, the peerless Purple One picks up his fourth Weekly Award of the season (and indeed fourth in eleven weeks) and sixth overall, this time rattling up 30 points over 14 fixtures, with 3 correct scores, doubling Bayern Munich thanks to Harry Kane. Sometimes you just have to sit back and applaud (no, not you, Harry).

Two of the players vying for the Plum Cup finished neck-and-giant-neck in 2nd place, with Evthewolf and Giantwolf sweetly inseparable on 27 points and 2 correct scores apiece, and each with one successful asterisk. Who wins the Cup? Patience, grasshoppers. Hicko and season one winner SG Wolves also finished on 27 points, but with just 1 correct score each, though SG was performer of the week in terms of scoring in 10 of 14 fixtures. Ewok Vs Wolf, Rincewind and WolvesAndCows each collected 26 points with 2 correct scores, and Ade123, OldGold53 and Oh When The Wolves were the other players to get 2 correct.

Wonder Boyo led by 4 points going into the final round of the Plum but failed to nail a correct score this week, meaning the terrible twins Evthewolf and Giantwolf both passed him at the finish line. They end with 110 points apiece and 7 correct apiece from the last four weeks, so share the sixth cup of the season - which is all rather neat and tidy, because Giantwolf had already qualified for the Fruit Bowl anyway, meaning that Evthewolf gains that particular privilege. Purplepault69 is 37 points clear with 8 weeks to go, which is by no means insurmountable, but given that he's taken 5 points more than anyone else in the LAST 8 weeks, it shows the scale of the task. Purple's nearest challenger now is, unsurprisingly, the consistent Giantwolf, who gently slides past Chris H like a very slidey big eel into 2nd by 6 points. Huge Of Sharjah holds onto 4th place by the width of an eyelid as Evthewolf continues impressive progress, up to 5th and just 1 point behind. This week saw one six-goal Villa thriller and two 5s, for Empoli and Arsenal, with the top three identically on Arsenal and Villa and only on a -1 for Nantes (plus Man City's miserly one goal). 12 players got hit for -5 in the Italian game, including JadeWolf and Hicko, which was unlucky as they both racked up a healthy 14 points in the plusses only to be tugged back by the braces. It wasn't the best of weeks for anyone at the top of the table, with none of the top 9 getting more than 5 points - and as well as Chris H's -2, Purplepault69 just got 1 and SuziQ only 2. So Bigcheese - still leading - and SingYourHeartsOut can breathe easy that they dodged a bullet. Evthewolf might be the one to keep an eye on, however, with 43 points in the past 4 weeks and up to 11th (better than anyone else apart from Giantwolf with 45, back in 16th); that's taking 11 points out of Bigcheese's total, and Ev is now just 27 points off the lead.
