Only 6 correct scores. Zero 10-pointers. 25th in Goals Galore. It's been shambolic, and my professional pride is as stung as if I'd been bathing with jellyfish.

40 non-spoon players so far this week, and partisan (blind faith) support is in full swing, with 31 recording Wolves wins, 5 for a draw, and 4 for a Luton disaster. We never learn.

The Norf Lahndan derby is the big game of the week otherwise, with 22 Arsenal wins, 13 draws and 5 Spurs victories. I read somewhere this week (no idea if it's true) that Harry Kane hadn't even scored his first goal for Spurs the last time they won at Arsenal in the league. Has to change sometime, right? 34 players are with Newcastle against poor Sheffield Utd, with 6 draws, and only MelbourneWolf, Hicko and Nige100 believe West Ham can take a point off Liverpool. 18 of us have Palace v Fulham down as a nailed-on 1-1, with 14 on 2-1 for Palace; only MelbourneWolf and Iamthennewno2 think Fulham can take the win. No-one gives Forest a sniff against Man City, obviously, with only Giantwolf thinking the champions will score less than 3 (he's on 2-0), and all 40 of us have Brighton to beat Bournemouth in the south coast derby - a coupon buster if ever there was one. 33 players have Brentford to beat Everton, with 6 draws, and just Ewok Vs Wolf backing the visitors. 22 players are recording Chelsea vs Villa as a draw, 15 of those at 1-1, with 10 Chelsea wins and 8 for Villa - this is the big split decision of the week. 37 side with Lazio over Monza, the other three are draws, whilst there are 19 draws for Augsburg v Mainz, and 14 draws between Metz and Strasbourg. In goals galore, the majority are weighing in on Man City v Forest, which is fair enough but in the words of Syndrome from The Incredibles, when everyone is special then no-one is, and tactically it may not be the way to go (Yes, I'm on Man City too, shut up). It's been a long, long road, with many a winding turn, that leads us to Huge, Of Sharjah (he got there)...

He finished 12th in Season 1, and 8th in Season 2, he's never missed a week, but he's never won a coveted Weekly Award - until today. Finally, after so many misplaced prayers to Mowtown, Huge Of Sharjah finds himself just where he wants to be, astride us all. He slotted in three correct scores, doubling two of them (Brighton and Augsburg), to reach 39 points (the best total he's ever achieved), and tonight both the wine and the tears will flow. He did indeed get the big dog out of the bag. No, I never know what he's talking about either, but it seems to have worked.

Jrpb-3 was an unlucky second, collecting 37 points with four correct scores, the best haul of the week, also doubling Brighton, and Rincewind - playing catch-up after missing a couple of early weeks - hit high gear with 33 in 3rd place, and two correct, one doubled. SingYourHeartsOut and Contrarian, with 31 and 30 respectively, both hit three correct scores, with Contrarian doubling Liverpool; Hicko was the other player to get three, but was unfortunate with asterisk placement.

Mentions of the week go to Giantwolf for being the only player to downgrade Man City to a simple 2-0 win, and JadeWolf for Villa's 1-0 victory over hapless Chelsea. No one predicted 8-0 for Newcastle, a shocking indictment of our precognitive powers.

Huge Of Sharjah and Chris H are the new leaders, though Chris H is officially numero uno having claimed more correct scores overall (12 to Huge's 9). Huge leaps from 13th to 2nd place. Purplepault69 and Wolf In Wednesbury slipped a little, and Jrpb-3 was the big mover, climbing from 19th to joint 5th - the early race is a humdinger. Last year's top two, Blast Tyrant and Wonder Boyo, are down towards the foot of the table keeping Wolf In The North company; the week of redemption did not go as planned.

Goals Galore is an evil, evil game, and two players (Chris H and Frank Lincoln) got hit for 8 by Newcastle, whilst 5 others were face-smacked with minus seven in the Real Sociedad game. Amazingly, one of those players was NOT the cursed Giantwolf, who redeemed himself this week by beating everyone, collecting 13 points, mostly thanks to Newcastle and a minus on Metz. Poor Miniwolf posts the first ever negative score, but I doubt it will be the last. Out of interest, no one was on both Newcastle and Sociedad for the combined positive 15.

I guess I can’t be too disappointed about just missing the weekly award having shot up to 5th overall and joint second on correct score table, though also probably my worst week on goals galore. I shall enjoy it whilst it lasts as things can change quite quickly(I think I went down 8 or 9 places last week)
