C'mon Wolves... Play up quite a bit please as three points would be an extremely welcome addition to our current points haul and give the upcoming mega sparkly Prediction League run-in Stats Special Feature Bonanza Show a real chance to be a smash hit.

At a glance:

01a.png

01b.png

27 players this week, with 14 Wolves wins, 7 draws, and 6 Burnley-doing-Burnley-things, a measure of cautious optimism. Only 3 Man Utd wins against Arsenal, and 19 for the Gunners, a sign of strange times. 17 Leicester wins and only 3 for Villa; only Frank Lampard - um, sorry, Frank Lincoln - thinks Everton will get something against Liverpool; only SuperGran is siding with Brentford against Spurs; 7 players think West Brom will triumph against Coventry, with 9 the other way, and 11 draws; 7 are with Bournemouth, 6 with Fulham, and 14 draws; and no-one thinks Watford will score, which means they'll be 1-0 up inside 10 minutes, causing Roy to drool and wave a weak fist like his nurse has just served him extra stewed carrots with his pills, then fall asleep during the VAR check. 20 players have predicted 1-1 in the relegation thrillfest between Genoa and Cagliari (I'm all about the glamour fixtures) and no-one fancies West Ham, because we hate them and don't want them to edge us for 7th.

Saturday shout-out to @Neves wolf and @Boon2 , and anyone else

Asterisk patrol - @lonewolf and @Don Corleone , you have four instead of three, have missed out the last one for each of you unless you say otherwise. @Chris H , you have no asterisks!!
Ah crap!

I’ve added asterisks to the Sunday games so I can’t be swayed by team line ups that have now been announced for the 3pm’s.

If it’s too late to make that change then don’t worry about it, I’ll just have to win without them (or blame it for me being nowhere again)!

Was banking on the new manager to be bounce but it’s good for wolves that result.
Ten Hag doesn't start until the end of the season... but even so, I think United need a bit more than a new manager bounce to turn their fortunes around.

It is good news for Wolves insofar as we are now only 5 points behind Utd with 2 games in hand. And in the highly unlikely event we win all our last six games of the season (as if) we will definitely finish above Man U for the first time since the dawn of time.

1974 was the last time the season they got relegated.

1974 was the last time the season they got relegated.
Surely we finished above them the season after as well, when they were in Division 2 and we were in Division 1?

I was born in 1974, so for me personally, technically, that was indeed the dawn of time.
I went to my first Wolves game in December 1974 (at Maine Road versus Man City, finished 0-0), so the 1973-74 season that @SuperGran refers to is also the dawn of time for me too!

Some heavy old point scoring today, with loads of games still to come. SmokeyGB leads on 24 points (24!) and was one of four players (other three being Oh When The Wolves, Huge Of Sharjah and Wonder Boyo) to take points from 6 out of 7 games. Excellent stuff, people.

And SingYourHeartsOut - see? Better to play than pass, on 18 points and currently in second place! Keep the faith!

don't think I'll be winning for a third time this week, not too bad on correct results but no correct scores (still got 3 asterisks for today though)

If you hear a heavenly chorus arising from the Welsh valleys tonight, know that this sweet refrain heralds the success of two winners harmonising in perfect unison. Hit it, boys.

This round's accolade is shared by Wonder Boyo, securing his third weekly prize at a critical time as we hit the title run-in, and by SingYourHeartsOut, performing a rousing rendition of Don't Give Up by Peter Gabriel and the ever-lovely Kate Bush; he touched those hearts earlier this week, jokingly wondering if he could stay the course, but like Charlie Bucket receiving a Wonka Bar on his birthday and discovering the gleam of a golden ticket hidden beneath the wrapper, the fairytale came true. I think that makes Wonder Boyo Grandpa Bucket, but I'm he sure he's fine with that.

SingYourHeartsOut hit two correct scores and took points from 10 of 15 matches to reach 32 points, the first time in the competition he's broken the 30-point barrier, while Wonder Boyo also got two correct and won points in 11 of 15. Oh When The Wolves actually outdid both, with points from 12 matches, but crucially was scuppered by VAR and finished on 31 points, while SmokeyGB, the overnight leader, faltered on Sunday and could only reach 30. Giantwolf, in comparison, smacked Sunday's backside with three correct scores in quick succession from Premier League games, taking 24 of his overall 30 points today.

SG Wolves posted another decent week and extends the lead at the top to 20 points over Blast Tyrant, while Wonder Boyo's excellent return pushes him back into contention in third place. Giantwolf has the top 5 in his sights, gaining ground on Contrarian and Frank Lincoln. Tune in tomorrow for a few form tables and a closer look at the title run-in with just four weeks still to play...
