It will be interesting to see what Bruno does for this game.

I watched Southampton outplay Spurs and win the other day and it was noticeable that Southampton really pressed them
and Spurs did not like it. Defensively they looked very poor as Southampton put them under a lot of pressure.

I feel if we go there and sit back it will play into their hands.

I would probably go with this team if Moutinho is out.

Sa

Semedo Gomes Coady Kilman RAN

Neves Saiss

Podence

Raul Silva

Subs, Ruddy, Trincao, Dendoncker, Cundle, Chiquinho, Hoever, Hwang, Jonny, Marcal

Dendoncker has to be dropped and as a result I would put Saiss in midfield for this game. I do like Cundle but cant see Bruno playing him and Saiss would add some strength next to Neves.

The attack is a difficult one. On the one hand I would be tempted to start Chiquinho and hope for the best. We also dont know how Hwang is who ideally I would start alongside Raul as a striker.

I would therefore play Podence in a free role behind Raul with Silva playing off Raul. I'm not sure myself if this would be any sort of good idea but just trying to think of solutions as to how we can get this side more threatening in attack as we wont be getting rid of 3 at the back.

May as well play 5- 4 -1 , with Jimenez up front, we may get a point.

Does anybody think RAN would work as an attacker on the left with Podence on the right?
He likes to attack and put in crosses. Marcal could cover for him at the back.

Semedo and Trincao are not gelling together……I think Podence and Semedo would work better.

Obviously a Hail Mary suggestion.

I have thought that too. Think he played there a bit in pre season.
But overall I think I’d keep RAN as our wingback.

That’s the team for me as well assuming Moutinho is not fit although I would be very tempted to start Chiquinho instead of Trincao

If Moutinho is out I imagine we'll go with the same starting line-up but with RAN instead of Marcal. I don't think Bruno has many "options" to be honest. Hopefully Hwang might make an appearance. Obviously if Moutinho is fit he's in for Donk.

I’ve left an old wardrobe out for the council to come and collect. If Bruno is quick he can come and get it to replace Donk.

Sa
Kilman Coady Saiss
Semedo Neves Moutinho Ait-Nouri

One marginal defeat doesn’t mean we should change everything. Same team as Old Trafford for me.

Sa
Kilman, Coady, Saiss
Semedo, Neves, Moutinho/Dendoncker, RAN
Trincao, Raul, Podence

To be fair, this doesn’t always have to be a defensive setup.

England played a variation of 5-4-1 at Italia 90. In the quarter final, the 4 in midfield were Gazza, Platt, Barnes and Waddle!

I’d quite like Bruno to go balls out at some point!! Midfield 3 of Neves holding, with Podence and Trincao either side, then 2 up top!!

We play a small, technical midfield anyway, so why not make it smaller and more technical. Works for City with Silva and Foden. With a back 5 behind them it shouldn’t make too much difference.

No chance Hwang will start for those putting him in their starting line ups.

I don't care who plays as long as we have some ****ing attacking intent tbh.

5-2-1-2

Sa
Semedo, Kilman, Coady, Saiss, Jonny
Neves, Mouts,
Podence
Raul, Hwang

I'd persist with Jimenez for this game ( well what choice do we have)
Hopefully Moutinho ok if not Donk ( again whats the realistic alternative)
Hwang as still being our top scorer!! should come straight back in
Podence in a free role behind the front 2 as despite his inconsistency is our best playmaker
If Jonny is fit enough for the bench , he's fit enough to start.

Not wishing in any way to dampen anyone's enthusiasm, but just like before the last two games
I fail to see who is going to put the ball in the net for us. There looks to be plenty of footballing talent
in the squad but more goal scoring threat in an average Championship attack. This could be the game
where it all changes, I surely hope so but it is more hope than expectation.

Got to drop Dendonker, hopefully off at the airport on the way down

Saiss - would do a job in the middle
Cundle - no idea but at worst he’d give us a “wow it’s my debut I’ll run around a lot” performance like MGW or Jake Cassidy - and if he turns out to be decent…bonus!

As well as the wardrobes superior movement there is a higher chance of a ball passed to a wardrobe getting trapped than there is passing to Donk,

plus opposition would have to run around it rather than it running out of the way
