Needs RAN on the left to try to keep Salah quiet again (in my view he struggles most vs bigger men).

I'm definitely not going to try and play like we have done so far this season.

I'm going a defensive 442. Nunes and Ran as the wide midfielders to help with the overloads from Liverpool.

Neto and Guedes upfront to try and hit them on the break.

Johnny to come inside and help the midfield and Nunes to come inside too and play in the half spaces like he's been doing as normal. Semedo to add the width.

Liverpool are short in midfield but strong out wide so I’d look for Traore and Neto to help defensively but stretch the pitch the other way too.

2 forwards to target with Nunes busting a gut defensively and arriving in the box when we counter.

Ask the middle 4 to work their knackers off for 60 mins then swap them for Hwang, Traore (B), Moutinho and Podence to do similar for the last half an hour.

I don’t think we’ll go that way and accept it’s risky, but I think Liverpool can be got at if you’re brave at the moment (equally they could hammer us too, but could do that even if we’re cautious).

Good game to play Adama I think, just his pace alone will mean Liverpool drop a little bit deeper and won’t force us to defend our own penalty box all game.

Also the kind of game we need Moutinho. Just his ability to get in between passes and disrupt the opposition.

Last season we were quite successful exploiting the space behind Liverpool’s wing backs with counter attacks at pace & think Lage will go for the same maybe leaving out Pod and including Hwang.

Whatever we do we need to understand they are not currently the force they've been for the last few seasons. I'd always start Adama in games like this, so maybe him and Neto as the wide forwards in a 433,but play them on their correct sides.

There's a great TIFO video showing Liverpool's issues and how best to play them at the moment.

Basically, don't play a high line so they can't get in behind you and force their attacks through the middle where they have serious issues.

The back 6 can absorb the pressure, try to play around the press. The front 4 has pace, power and vision.

If Costa signs, hopefully hge gets all up in Raul's grill and lights a fire under him - he's not been threatened for his place for a while.
