If ruddy doesn't play in any cup games then Rui gets injured, ruddy would have to play without a competitive game since last May ( if your thinking Is you wouldn't have played ruddy in any cup game this season)

There is at least distinct possibilty he might cost us.Would be a real downer if we are to be the masters of our own defeat.
IF we treat todays matchup the wrong way,there is big risks involved.
Ruddy doesn´t qualify to play in a big game like this.I fail too see how any second string players of us do.

Ruddy has been playing in the cups though.
Him playing or not against Brizzle will add pretty much zero in that aspect.
Why don´t we play him in a match in the league?

I was just responding to your question, I certainly wouldn't be playing him in the league over Rui, ruddy seems a keeper that needs to be playing to keep his edge and we can't offer that. That said seems a great pro and not sure who we would get to sit on the bench 99% of the time who is better ( except maybe Norris )

If it wasn’t for ruddy Liverpool would have made it 2-2 with that free kick. Who knows what would have happened then. People have short memories. He will be fine today and gets my vote in goal.

Nuno has always said those who don’t play in the league will play in the cups.

The difference is, at this stage, that needs to go out the window as the teams normally get better and the competition gets tougher.

Ruddy can do the business today I have no doubt but if we draw United or Chelsea or Man City in the QF’s if we get through, are we really going to sacrifice progression to give players 90 minutes under their belt?

It would be suicidal if we did.

Anyway, no problem with Ruddy playing today. Did a great job last season in the champ and a champ team is what we’re playing today.

Completely undeserved if that is the case. I’ve always put up a staunch defence of Costa but his performances this season and certainly last 2/3 months have on the whole been shocking. He seems to have lost all appetite, pulls out of challenges and doesn’t run at the opposing defence like he use to.

Cav deserves a chance ahead of Costa, he’s had far less minutes and has a much better goals to minute ratio.

As another poster has mentioned ... should Rui unfortunately get a serious injury or anything that keeps him out for a few games would we want a player coming in who has barely had a sniff of competitive football.

We did perfectly well enough against Championship opposition last season with Ruddy in goal ... (maybe Norwich as an exception lol)
