The same date applies in England but players contracts tend to expire or renew on 31st June so there isn't much financial benefit in clubs picking up players contracts early - also, I think the transfer window applies to the registration of players contracts rather than their employment.

I notice the E&S claiming they got an exclusive with the Roger Johnson story.

Wolves’ interest in Johnson – exclusively revealed in the Express & Star on May 23 – sees them facing stiff competition to land the former Cardiff and Wycombe defender.

Fair enough but if someone on here made up something similar we'd all be wanting to know the source as there's no evidence or quotes in the article.

A real scoop would be to announce a signing before club text or it appears on the Wolves website.

Wolves are set to confirm the capture of Jamie O'Hara in a £5m deal next week while they are working hard on several other targets.

Midfielder O'Hara, who impressed while on loan in the second half of last season, has agreed personal terms at Molineux and is expected to be officially unveiled as a permanent signing next week.

How would you know we hadn't though? I'm not saying these people have any insight but we don't publicise much and it may well have been flat out rejected.
