Where's this??

He's got what 10 months on his contract? Say he's on 25k per week...

25k x 40 weeks

£1million it'd cost approx.

Bit of a daft move if the club have said this because why would clubs now come in and bid x amount if they can wait a week and sign him on a free?

25k is a bit high...I'd say more like 17k; I'd also hope we'd be able to strike a deal with him as we'd be freeing up his registration.

Still, probably the best part of 500k at the least.

So excited when he signed and he did score "that" goal. He seems the definitive anti-Solbakken player though.

Where did you get that info from James?

Releasing him THIS week is the statement NOT next week

Release him & wipe £1 million off the wage bill or let him rot on the side-lines whilst his contract winds down = no brainer to me

Ooohhh!

Can't see it happening in this case - we're not the sort of team to throw money away like that. Can see him leaving on a free though

Wolves have confirmed that Stephen Hunt will be leaving this week even if the club have to release him as he is not part of Stale's plans.

How much would that cost ?

Anything upto paying his contract off.

Where did you get this?

He was rumoured to be on £30k, so £15k I'd say.

That's lifted straight from that Facebook Banter page.

I follow it just to point out that the guy who runs it claims to have "Sources" who tell him everything.

Yesterday he claimed that our "Marquee signing' Was John Carew because he had seen someone else on twitter say it.

Today he has claimed this thing with Hunt saying that the E&S, The Club and Martin Swain have all said its happening in articles or on Twitter when NONE of the above is true. He presents speculation as FACT.

I follow it because it makes me giggle that some people do that for attention.

And yes, i know that makes me sad too =]:D

SS on Hunt who was ill on Tue: "I had an open discussion with him. He has 10 mnths left and if he stays he can fight for place but if that's acceptable he can go."

SS on JOH: "He'll undergo specialist treatment to see if he needs another op."

From @TimNash1
See the above quote from manc first and then answer me.
Are you guys saying that Stale can he can fight for his place one day and then a few days later he is leaving irregardless?

Hunt, Nenad & Hammill have all been bit part players over last season or two. The Egg was a ridiculous signing by MM. No great suprise from me that they will be allowed to find new clubs?

Kightly, Jarvis & Fletcher sold for a potential 27m pounds! Unbelievable business by the Club, and legacy from MM.

6 new signings, a new manager, a new first team coach, a new ethos, a new system of play. Things are gonna take time to bed in. Personally I think Solbakken is doing a good job, results will come and on face value I think all his signings seem pretty good with the exception of Nouble who has time to develop and come good.

I don't think anyone with a basic grasp of the english language is saying Hunt can leave 'irregardless'.

Jim Bowen http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11699/8019450/

Says at the end of this that we are prepared to let him go on a free or for nominal fee. I doubt we'd pay him off and release him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sky Sports understands that Wolves would be prepared to let Hunt go for free or a nominal fee as Solbakken tries to bring in his own players.

Maybe Sky dont have a grasp of basic english.

Isn't letting him go on a free/for a nominal fee "paying him off" in a way as he wouldn't be on our payroll any more?

No. If we released him we'd have to pay him the money that he would get for the 10 months or so he has left to run on his contract.

If we sell him, or let him leave on a free transfer then we keep the money it would take us to release him, and take a few grand.

Hunt was and probably still is a good player, not sure what happened but it seemed he lost his way here, through injury, being unfit and probably crazy tactics. Hope he stays but if he goes I wish him well.

We ridiculously signed him with a knee injury if remember correctly. prior to this he had been a key player for Hull, I just wonder if the injury was more severe and has affected him. Hunt has certainly been one of the biggest let downs when measured against the fee we paid for him.

Not doubting you here JB32 but I always recall Reading's central midfielders in the Premier League being Sidwell and Harper with Hunt playing on the left. What was he like in the centre?

Signing Hunt for our previous manager was like some girl that you have wanted to "make the beast with two backs" for a long time. You are blindly determined to pursue the matter until you get your way. The fact that by the time she is in your hands she has seen better days and no longer able to perform is irrelevant. Love and pig-headed ignorance are both bliss.

I meant when he was playing, he started playing...

Are you getting confused with EDL?

Im just confused :S

EPL as in English Premier League. One of my pet hates referring to the Premiership by its American created name.

I wasn't accusing you of having EDL sympathies.
