Indeed. I want the club to help long standing fans of all ages where it can but I just don't think the blanket approach of saying when you get to a certain age you get X amount off is the best way to do it.
Think you would need every club to adopt that policy and then dependent on your personal financial circumstances, you'd either be discounted or not, but that of course would have to apply to everyone irrespective of school leaving age (you could after all have a situation where someone is receiving the basic State Pension living in a council property against a house owner with a top of the range motor in the drive and earning £40k/yr plus). It would be fun filling in a form every year disclosing your personal wealth. :)

There's disparity everywhere we look. I wish I could pay the same price for my pint of beer in whichever establishment I go into instead of the ridiculous (and sometimes random) pricing structure that exists from one hostelry to the another.

I actually agree with the principle of closing the gap in price between oap tickets and standard adult tickets.
I also would close the gap in what season ticket holders pay per game and what members end up paying.

However I think it should be done by lowering the standard price of a match ticket rather than raising the others…. Won’t happen though.

So as someone who is planning to retire early in the next 12 months whilst I still have my health and faculties I've been looking forward to a free bus pass, free TV licence, two for the price of one lunches in The Chestnut and a cheaper season ticket coming my way in the next few years. One, by one it looks like all these benefits will slowly disappear, but still holding out hope for my OAP season ticket reduction in a few years time.

Hence I started reading this thread with a great deal of interest, then to my surprise one of the beneficiaries of my estate is on here planted firmly on the abolition side of the debate!!!

As a result I am now looking at Equity Release plans and will be calling Jeff to enquire as to the price of an executive box before I can then figure out how many years it will take to burn through their inheritance ;)
Good for you.... I assume that the Bank of Mum and Dad is firmly and permanently closed to said individual too, lol....

Why should someone who might only go to one game in a season pay similar to a season ticket holder?

Not similar. Just not such a large difference.

I swear some season ticket holders consider themselves martyrs. You get a guaranteed ticket and you get first choice of where you sit. That plus something like a 10% reduction wouldn’t be unfair. IMO anyway.

Currently if someone who has bought a membership only goes to one game, sits in the central part of the BW, isn’t a child or an OAP, the game they go to happens to be considered a category A game… they pay over £100 I think.
What’s a south bank season ticket holder pay per game? £23 is it?..

Against the back drop of a wagebill that has dropped and will continue to drop. They should be reduced by 20%.

What grates on me is the prize money per position in the league.

Last year it was £2.2m per position, so difference between 13th and 7th is a whopping £13m.

If 20,000 season tickets go up by £75 each that generates £1.5m, not even the same as one place in the league.

Why not make a huge gesture and say if the team finish above expected position (which let’s face it was 17th or up) those that have invested in the season (existing ticket holders) don’t get an increase as the income would be far higher than originally budgeted for.
This is Area 51 stuff.

Total dreamland.

You think the club are going to reward legacy fans after the team have exceeded expectations? No way bro, they're just gonna keep with the same financial model if we finished 17th.

Capitalism innit. Privatisation for the profits, socialism for the losses!

Why worry about what someone else pays -- if you are not happy with what you get for your money as a season ticket holder give it up .

So my £780 season ticket would jump to £1026? Not much of an increase then.

I never said I wasn’t happy with what I pay.

No I know they aren’t going to but shows how insignificant a price rise is to the club if the team perform and there must be a point where the hassle they get from a rise or category change isn’t worth it.

I actually suggested the match by match price should come down! Rather than your season ticket go up!

My bad. To be fair I don’t think the club should be changing for a membership in the first place it seems like a blatant money grab and you can’t keep your place on the season ticket list without one.

I agree that charging for a membership is scandalous and why i dropped off the season list tbh.
Was in london over easter though and some friends there said were paying £100 a year on top of their Arsenal membership to get them more chance of a ticket (cant remember the name of the scheme). So far not a single ticket available for the whole season lol. Paid membership +£100 for nothing! Could be loads like that so Arsenal almost getting £5 a game from a load of people not even at the game while then selling season tickets for over £1k! This is what we're competing against and probably the roadmap going forward.

Klopps last home game those tickets will go for ridiculous amounts. Mind if any of ours sell to a dipper they should be banned for life.
if selling for 2k thats 2 years of season ticket paid for in one match that is of no consequence to us so i can understand it.
Imagine if they won the league, id pay 2k NOT to be there.

If by chance the have won the league no chance I'm going. It'll be unbearable as much as wanting to support Wolves.

However if by then they are not going to win the league then I'm going and ripping my glory hunting Liverpool fans telling them I was there on his last game more to take the ****.

Re your last line, South bank season holders pay over £32 a game.
