Interesting at this stage of the season for the last 3 greedy league seasons, we were 1 off the bottom each time and we were 3 to 5 points less than where we are this season. There is also a little gap forming between the bottom 3 (maybe) and us.

At times, it hasn't seemed like progress, but stats (as crude as they are) seems to suggest we have improved slightly, not enough to say we have acheived mid-table mediocraty; BUT, enough to say that a good loan signing in January could tip us into the safe zone.

Wasn't there a thread with the exact same title on here a couple of days ago?

if there was please delete, I was away at the weekend

It's a good topic though. Obviously it's over the whole season that counts and in the past couple of seasons we have done better towards the end of the season. Let's reserve judgement until late on in the season is what I say.

Too many Wolves fans demand the earth and are very disapointed with where we are at the moment after three years in this league. However given the huge gap between the haves` and have nots` in this grossly unfair league, I feel it is a great achievement to simply survive each season.

I would be extremely happy if we were to improve by one single place each year from now on. To some that would not be enough but whether we like it or not, this is far from a fair league and until something happens to change things, this has to be the best we can possibly hope for.

If we'd have lost on Sunday everyone would have been calling for Mick's head but had we indeed lost this would STILL have been our best start (on goal difference!) (i think)

Yet from those 3 seasons, 03-4 looks the best yet ended the worst. A long way to go. Obviously we could improve further or slip back. Hopefully we can sign 1 or 2 that can drive the team on for the latter half. Keep Fletcher fit, play some creative players with him and we've got a chance.

In all the years Mick has been here there has only been the one season where we have taken an apparent step back and much of that was due to the over achievement in the first year.

I still think progress is best judged in May.

This would be fantastic - in 15 years time we will be challenging for the title - I never thought it would happen in my lifetime! In Europe in around 8 years or so, unless we win the cup beforehand!
We'll still have 6 or 7 of the chamionship team as first team regulars too.

I'm off for a lie down and to reflect on what I've just written.....

Up until Fulham beating Liverpool on Monday night we were above all four teams we'd beaten with the fifth team (Bolton) still to play & level on points with one of the teams we drew with (Swansea) & two points behind the other one (Everton). I think this is a better guage as to our "progress" ie beating the teams in & around us. Those four "lost" points would have us level with Stoke who certain posters reckon we should be emulating transfer spending wise

It was a good concert although I wish robbie Williams hadn't been in it. I just don't like him, they're better as a 4 piece!

By the time boxing day has been and gone , we will have played city , united , Liverpool , Chelsea and arsenal away .. If we are on 18 points plus going to the reebok we will be relatively well positioned to attack the second half of the season !
