I think your point about the academy attracting young talent to come to Wolves is a really good one. MGW is pretty much a one-off tbh and it may be some time before another young player of his quality comes along.Unfortunately you’re wrong on this one. The Academy costs approximately £3 million a season. In the last 2 seasons we’ve sold £50 million of players who are academy products.
The next lot of Hodge and Cundle who are undoubtedly surplus to requirements will generate a couple of million a piece and so on and so on. It operates to produce income and give the next generation a foot up on the hope of making. Chiwome is a prime example, would he have come here at 16 with no academy? Absolutely not.
Re Brentford, if their way is better who have they got in the first team that came through?
You can add to our list Hugo Bueno and Kilman, both of whom didn’t sign for us as school boys but did play academy level for us? There’s probably £40 million of value in them
Big profit on MGWI think your point about the academy attracting young talent to come to Wolves is a really good one. MGW is pretty much a one-off tbh and it may be some time before another young player of his quality comes along.
Profitability is what we want and that’s what we are gettingBig profit on MGW
Big Profit on Giles
Big profit on Sanderson
Big profit on Ottasowie
2 first team regulars in Max and H Bueno
Looking likely a big profit on Mosquera (or he comes back into the squad)
All the above in less than 5 seasons. There’s lots to bash the club for, the Academy is absolutely not one of them.
It’s also the optics it presents to the parents of prospective signings, it’s a snowball effect as the more we can show our kids end up playing professionally either here or elsewhere the more that want to join.Profitability is what we want and that’s what we are getting
Nah he's a ****.Morgan wasn’t exactly treated well at the end of Nuno’s tenure….. calling him back from a loan where he was happy to essentially sit on the bench wasn’t good.
We have our part to play as a club in why he didn’t want to stay.
Nah he's a ****.
Do we get loan fees for cundle and hodge?

I’d personally put in Max and Yerson as they both played Age level football even if it was in the under 23s rather than the teenage groups, purely on the basis that it includes the under 23s as part of its role.I personally don't include Max Kilman in anything I talk about from an academy stats POV and I certainly wouldn't include Yerson, but thats not to take away from your point, which I agree with.
The arguments mentioned by posters in earlier messages could absolutely be true in the barren years post Keane/Lescott - up to Fosun, but things are different now. Its taken a few years to build as per my previous messages, but its slowly getting there.
We will always be second fiddle to the big boys though.
Christ that’s twice I’ve agreed with you in one day, I’m going for a lie downThe spotlight is only on the academy because of the mismanagement of the first-team.
It should be viewed as a money-making scheme, and a bonus if we produce a player to impact the squad.
It delivers on that front emphatically well, but it's natural to be a bit frustrated that we don't have any genuine top talents, but it wouldn't be mentioned if we weren't relying on them.

Even the barren years it served its purpose, plays like Batth, ikeme & Price played a lot of games for the senior team. Then chuck in the likes of Clarke, Little, Ebanks-Landell, Iorfa all had decent careers elsewhere.
Totally agree with how Fosun have progressed it , also agree it takes time to see that come to fruition. For me since Fosun came every year the next age group that move up are looking better than the previous crop. That’s down to good recruitment, good scouting and good coaching. I know a local independent scout and a local agent who specialises in working with youth players and both wax lyrical about what Fosun have done and more importantly the staff we’ve brought in since they came here.
Bloody hell, I forgot about MGW in my opening thread and never gave him a mention!
He was so so with us and was given plenty of chances to be a regular starter, but was so inconsistent.
I suppose the 40 odd million we got for him was good business. He’s doing ok for Forest, but again he is inconsistent. Touted to be selected for the England squad earlier this season, but that’s a bit OTT imo.
Let’s see how gets on against Super Mario and The Pitbull on Saturday. No doubt he will try to wind up a few people, including our fans.
They'll be wanting their money back for Otasowie. He seems to have disappeared.Big profit on MGW

We have produced quite a few players but not at Gibbs-White's level.
Ryan Giles was a good academy player who earnt us 5 million. Sanderson 2 million. Corbeanu 1 million. That's 8 million this season which isn't bad.
Well that’s a well informed opinion on the matter, kudos. What accadamy?
What scouting system???
It's a joke ...if the temperature isn't 35 degrees and a nice beach nearby , our scouts arnt interested
The problem MGW had was that Nuno was so rigid in his 3-4-3 system at the time. He didn't really have the pace for one of the wide forwards and wasn't strong enough to be one of the 2 midfielders.
He was always suited best to that no10 (where he excelled in his Sheff Utd loan) or advanced midfield role that Wolves didn't play at all during his time with us. **** timing really.
Oh...our " scouts " , have found plenty of NOT good enoughs from warm countries , like Silva , when was the last time our scouting system found a Sake , a foden , a Bellingham ( who only lived just down the road ) , an Elliott ,a Cole palmer? .. a vardy, even a Paul mullin????Well that’s a well informed opinion on the matter, kudos.
Gutted we found Gomes...Oh...our " scouts " , have found plenty of NOT good enoughs from warm countries , like Silva , when was the last time our scouting system found a Sake , a foden , a Bellingham ( who only lived just down the road ) , an Elliott ,a Cole palmer? .. a vardy, even a Paul mullin????
Not since the days of Steve bull...cos they re all on the beach in Portugal etc
Have you had a bang on the head and not seen the signings we’ve made since Fosun come in? Do you think they just ring the club and sign?Oh...our " scouts " , have found plenty of NOT good enoughs from warm countries , like Silva , when was the last time our scouting system found a Sake , a foden , a Bellingham ( who only lived just down the road ) , an Elliott ,a Cole palmer? .. a vardy, even a Paul mullin????

Ait Nouri was just walking down the Waterloo road as well and popped into reception to see if there were any jobs goingGutted we found Gomes...

Waveney was moaning about our scouting. He was clearly scouted and signed (albeit for the first team squad)Ait-Nouri was already playing at Angers and was courted by big clubs, not in the same category.
Vitinha was the same as Jota and Neves he’d played nearly 50 games for Porto in the Portuguese top division and Europe for them. Unfortunately he had the same fate as Goncalves in so far as Nuno didn’t trust either of themI think the academy has done reasonably well as far as academies go.
I have felt for a while the problem seems to be keeping young players that come through or come to the academy first or just join as very young inexperienced players. Seems the very best want away pretty quickly. MGW, Vitinha, Goncalves arguably the best three youngsters with zero experience when joining our ranks or being brought through, all three wanted away. The likes of Neves and Jota were already full pros so aren't in this category.
Kilman is a good one we kept happy. Just randomly spouting here so if I am forgetting anyone obvious, make me happy and tell me.
In fact he was disappointed not to be offered the job as assistant to Doris in the kitchen and had to settle for a job kicking a bloody ball about.Ait Nouri was just walking down the Waterloo road as well and popped into reception to see if there were any jobs going
Maybe they were on holiday in Portugal at the timeMust have missed them signing Kilman & Doyle then
Huge difference between scouting for the first team and for the academy.Waveney was moaning about our scouting. He was clearly scouted and signed (albeit for the first team squad)
Weirdly enough, I think he'd have suited working under Gaz more than any of our previous managers.
In fact he was disappointed not to be offered the job as assistant to Doris in the kitchen and had to settle for a job kicking a bloody ball about.
Not a lot of people know that.
I’m aware.Huge difference between scouting for the first team and for the academy.
I agree that Waveney is talking out of his rear.I’m aware.
I’m also aware of how much we have additionally invested into our scouting network since Fosun come in. To suggest our scout are sitting on a beach because we haven’t picked up a Bellingham, Foden & Saka like Waveney said is just ludicrous. Especially as two of them are genuine world class players.
What's that got to do with the scouting system and coming through the academy ?? You must have had a bang on the headAit Nouri was just walking down the Waterloo road as well and popped into reception to see if there were any jobs going
