My son went to Leicester today and he has told me that some Leicester fans were fighting with each other at the end, with the stewards having to intervene. There was also a fair bit of abuse aimed at Susan Whelan, their chief executive and John Rudkin, their director of football.

You have to wonder what on earth has happened there. From champions, FA Cup winners and European semi finalists, they have somehow ended up getting relegated. With the players they have it shouldn’t have happened. It is a warning to most clubs in the premier league that you cannot take your eye off the ball and take things for granted.

They made a few poor buys, and being funded from Duty Free shops their funding disappeared during covid.
A bit like us, it takes a year or so to show the residual effects and rot is hard to stop.
The only difference between them and us is that we bought orselves out of it and got the right short term coach involved early enough to make a difference and get a plan together.
Rodgers didn't leave Leicester til 8 games to go, they were just gambling with a new manager bounce. Arguably now, they should have left Rodgers in place.

I agree that they should have got rid of Rodger’s earlier. They left it too late and have paid the price. It’s not all down to the manager though. King Power was badly affected by COVID, and the money allocated to Leicester City was significantly reduced, as were many other aspects of the business. The football club failed to address this situation until it was too late. Leicester only made one significant signing in the summer, and relegation will have a serious effect on their finances.

Possibly their biggest mistake was in allowing so many players contracts to run down. I mentioned a couple of months back that sixteen members of their first team squad are either out of contract this summer, or have only one year left. They certainly took their eye off the ball and will not get as much for Maddison as they hoped. He has one year left and like many others, his wages need taking off what is the seventh biggest wage bill in the premier league.

To put it bluntly, they are in a mess. hopes that they will make an instant return may be very optimistic.

Hahaha.... Apparently West Ham fans were singing "Say hello to Millwall, say hello to Millwall, la la la la” to Leicester yesterday....

Probably in response to Leicester fans a few years back singing, “Champions of England, you’ll never be that“. Which was fair enough, but they sang it to Wolves and Derby fans as well. Someone should have told them there was football before 1992.

The response at Molineux was "We've won it three times".....

We did, they then changed it to "Premier League Champions", we then replied with "Asia cup Champions, you'll never sing that" !!
