Not a forward, winger or even a attacking central mid.
Very unfair to judge him as one.

He's absolutely not a "defensive midfield" by any stretch of the imagination. Look at him defensively vs. Lemina or Gomes...

Whatever he is/was in France... he's finding harder in the PL, that's for sure.

Hopefully he can carve a niche for himself.

He looked best (to me) at Brentford when we romped it... he was an intelligent out-ball ... like we used to pray Adama would do for us. He's pacey and not short of strength to either breakaway or run the channels late on.

I think JRB is also rapidly improving under GON and his coaching team. He looked good when he came on yesterday for the final 20 mins.
Still adapting to the demands of the prem. He is getting better but we will see the best next season as we have done with Cunha, Lemina and both Gomes`. Another very good player in the making.

Said the same leaving the ground, first season at this level, has alot to learn, but he will get there, should have done better with his chance but redeemed not long after by bringing the ball in well and winning a corner.

I like him, it's a team game and he's part of it.

Looks to me like he's playing within himself. I said on another thread that I felt the sending-off at Luton had damaged his confidence as he looked decent when he first arrived. A confident player would have hit he chance towards the end of the game yesterday with his left and buried it. Instead he tried to cut back on his right and it was blocked by Royal.
As others have said, he may just need time to bed-in or play in a different position, but at the moment he looks devoid of confidence to me.

I've rolled my eyes a few times at snidey comments on the match day threads.

We've all been there, Hwang was written off, Cunha written off, Semedo written off, the list goes on....
I think the majority were happy to write off Hwang before this season. His form this year after a run of starts has definitely convinced me to stay patient with JRB, who's mostly been stuck on the bench for us.

Me included. Gobsmacked at Hwangs turnaround and lesson learnt. We have to give our recruitment and the players the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he's done bad so far.

I think the pass from Neto was a little short so had to check back

He has yet to find his place in the team, and being moved about all over the shop hasn't helped him. It can be hard for some players to come up to speed when they come on as a sub, so a couple of those missed chances may just be a need for more minutes.

I personally am rather confident that he will show himself to be a very valuable player in due course. Good pace, difficult to pin down in tight situations and always on the move is a good combination. Better discipline, will help though.

Been a stop start few months for him

The sending off
Then injured
then Form of the guys in front of him

Run of games will no doubt show us his talent.

He'll be absolutely fine.
Yep. Certainly will. 25 year old being thrown into the Prem from Ligue 1 and playing in 3 or 4 different positions.

3 goal contributions in 7 starts.

He is great at using his body and draws clever fouls. Great acceleration with the ball from standing. His touch when he is pressured from behind (shielding) needs a lot of work but that will come.

Unfortunately for him I think his best position is the right of a 3 man midfield in a 433, or in the middle of the 2 in a 343. He's shown some superb glimpses of what he can do and he'll only get better under Gary.

This. He will get more minutes until Cunha comes back and with a busy schedule ahead it’s a real chance for him to kick on.

The chance he missed to make it 3-1 on Saturday was obviously a golden chance but it was made much more difficult than it should have been by a very poor pass from Neto.
buried the chance against brentford in a similar fashion, but cunha put a good pass on. He will get better

More likely to have been the double GBH assaults by Coufal at WHU that made him wonder what he'd stepped into...

Also, I don't care what crock of excuses our Gary made after about different formations on and off the ball, everyone in the ground could see he played Bellegarde LWB that day and it was a disaster. Must have been a mortifying day for the lad.

Next week would be a good one for him to start IMO, see how he gets on, bring on the cavalry if it's going pear-shaped.

Give him the season to settle then judge next year. Looks a bit low on confidence which isn't a surprise.

He is a quality operator in the role he specialises in from midfield. We saw that clear as day before his red card.

Let him get his confidence back in that role or one that plays to strengths and he will be 100% ok

Part of it will be how well the main group is playing.

It can be very difficult to force your way into a side, playing a certain way, with individuals in great form.

We saw this under Nuno really, with players like Adama and Donk initially just used in supporting roles and only really getting their chance after a sale, injury, or change in system. Other players never managed to force their way in, and eventually moved on.

I don't think GON's long-term vision was to play with 3 centre backs and unfortunately as we've seen, Bellegarde isn't a natural fit for any of the roles we currently use in our current setup.

Absolutely, they were bloody awful. Plus the red card and very few minutes. Let's give him time.
the other players and the Wolves bench should have made more of that thuggery. Moyes has form in this respect, and
it was an ideal chance to do some reputational damage to a rival.

How the league don’t have a “citing officer” for that type of thing baffles me!

Allows people to do it knowing if they con the referee and VAR bottles it, there is no consequence for their actions no matter how wreckless

Excellent contribution tonight. Had the beating of the Brighton defence.

Superb assist.

If he can be integrated better into the team, he will make an impact.
Funny. I thought he was really poor and the ball kept stopping with him. I missed his assist as I'd just walked in!

I have to agree. I thought that apart from the goal contribution he was pretty anonymous.
I am hoping he just needs to settle like Sarabia but, at the moment I am underwhelmed and not sure what his actual position is.

He set up a very similar chance as the goal for again for Lemina.

Put Bton under pressure throughout his time with chasing and his direct threat when he has the ball.

Just doesnt have the ball enough.

Playing inside forward on the left, looks to be more like his natural position as well.

Interesting how people see the game differently, I thought it was a stronger performance from him tonight. Looked a better player picking the ball up deeper and running at them, faded a bit second half but maybe down to the team sitting in deeper

I'm pleased he has an assist to his name as it's somewhat unfair on him to be utilised in this way, but even his assist was ultimately a cross right into the keeper's hands that 9 times out of 10 - particularly without it being the reserve GK - is simply caught.

Needs to get a bit tougher, but the pace and skill he has will be massive for us going forward.
