Jody Craddock (Not Dead)

How is that even legal? Its not even minimum wage
It was if you were only contracted for a few hours a week.
By this time Jody was already starting his artwork career and Wolves gave him the opportunity to take a small wage, in return for a decent send off at the end.

Quite shocked to read that - bl**dy Moxey.

I’m sure that this was a workaround to ensure that Jody would complete 10 years service and get a testimonial which is much more valuable than £90 a week. He never expected or wanted to play in that 10th season.

The club did him a favour, so I’ve no axe to grind with Moxey on this one.

I know who is welcome back with open arms and who is still hated here!

Jody Craddock one of life’s good guys
He’s a genuine bloke met him many times. He loves painting over taking up coaching football was more of a hobby to him. Fair play wish we was all that good. Another classic case of being a late bloomer. Got better with age. When we first bought him wasn’t great. Got better the longer he was with us. Could of easily played on longer. Proper family man god bless you Jody

Very bad offer from the club. Jody what player for us. Loved his overhead kick against southend also volley bradford in the cup?

I did read it, yes; and I still think it's a bit of a joke by Moxey / Wolves. It's not as if we're a small family business struggling to keep our heads above water. We could have given him just a wee bit more than £90/week, even if the only real reason was to get him his testimonial!

Yes, agree that it was only ever designed to be a nominal contract to see him through to his 10th year. Under normal circumstances, I'd also have no issues with it.

But the fact that most of the proceeds of his Testimonial went to Birmingham Children's Hospital, meant Jody probably didn't make any money from the match and only covered any expenses. I know that was his choice, because his son was very ill at the time.

But if you look at the timing of it all, it's really despicable from Moxey. The news about Craddock's 2 year son being diagnosed with Leukemia came out towards the end of our PL relegation season in 2011/12.

I know we were clearing the decks and cutting our cloth accordingly at the time. But sometimes, you have to look at the bigger picture.

How anyone can come to the conclusion that spending £500k on Georg Margreitter was better than offering a stalwart like Craddock a couple of grand a week, at one of the most difficult moments of his life, is beyond me.

Instead, that's the point that Moxey decided to offer him a £90 a week contract?

The man is, and always has been, a scumbag.

Shocked to see that Jody Craddock was paid £90 per week in his last year at Wolves, surprised he stayed. I wonder how much he made from his testimonial the following year.

Saw that. At face value absolutely appalling particularly given that Moxey was feathering his own nest at the same time. Can't help wondering what the impact on squad morale was - seeing a stalwart treated like crap couldn't have gone down well with the other players

Kenny Jackett doesn't come out of it too well at the end either.

Not too sure about that. Jodie had effectively already been released the season before Jackett arrived, having not been part of the group and not played for a season, despite his £90 per week contract!

He asked Jackett straight up, are you going to sign me, because I'm not coming on the Ireland tour if you're not, Jackett has given him a straight answer.

No problems at all with Jackett there to be honest. He's not wasted any of Jody's time and has been honest with him.

Did you read the article? It was just so that he could have a testimonial, he wasn't training/expecting to get picked - we essentially donated £4680 to him, purely thanks to Moxey's generosity!

Yes l read the article. Frankly l would rather have given Jody a decent contract and ****ed the greasy fat tub of lard off. Jizz generous? Only ever to his own pocket the useless sack of ****e.

My reservation with Jackett is that it sounds like he was stringing Jody along before having that straight up question posed. I agree that he answered openly and honestly.

It's so annoying when facts go against what you think isn't it - it can be hard to really absorb them.
Neither you nor l know what the facts actually are. I can safely say though that your opinion isn't wholly factual despite what you may think. No one's is.

Yeah, maybe. The initial 2 week trial offer was clearly just for show.

Of course we do, Craddock stated them!

Rather than releasing Craddock when Wolves no longer wanted him, we sentimentally gave him £4680 purely out of the goodness of Jez Moxey's heart, so that Craddock could have a testimonial the following year.

In the words of Jody himself:
So you know, I'm grateful that they did that to get me to my testimonial.

Methinks that on this one we will beg to differ.

Thing that rankles with me on this is he was still a very capable player imo when he finished playing with us, as good as any other cb’s we had at the time.
IIRC he was actually asked if he wanted to be Wolves manager and he declined didn’t he? I definitely read that somewhere.
