Noooooooooooo!
Sounds like from what Johnny Phillips said Neto is off in the summer for big cash. What we already knew in reality

See Cundle scored again today. Goal scoring midfielders are hard to come by. We have never really replaced Dave Edwards in that role as such. Always scored goals for us, fabulous trainer. Played under every manager. Some players could take a leaf out of our Dave’s book. We had Neves but he loved the perfect goal.

Hopefully Hobbs is looking at better calibre players than Danny *^%# Ings

Similarly, we shouldn't have players brought to the club without any input.
We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think GoN is qualified enough to give an assessment on a player.

He's a coach and you have to trust your recruiters to get the right players in. He's not been doing the job long enough in any capacity to have that ability yet.

Nailed on to go in the summer Neto....we will need a big sale I reckon to spin the new cycle with FFP....we will probably look back at not taking big money for either Raul, Neves or Adama a few years ago, which probably started the cycle to our current FFP problems.

I find the concept of a manager having no say at all on player recruitment difficult to get my head around … especially when their fate is so closely linked to the players at their disposal. Probably a generational thing.
I think it is a generational thing.

Football has changed so much and coaches have become more specialised and recruitment is no exception.

The UK was quite a way behind in this regard but even the great Pep and Klopp let their recruitment teams work with little involvement.

GoN just doesn't have that experience yet, he's still finding his feet at this level. Recruitment would be challenge too far right now.

When a team costs £200 million to build and a manager leaves after a hissy fit , or loses 6 on the bounce and is sacked that manager has to hold only a custodianship.

WE don’t know, but the coaches who work with them daily will have a much much better idea of a players level and ability so I’d trust their judgement. What’s the alternative drop Lemina for a run of games to have a “look” at Cundle? They’ll already have analysed every minute he’s played at Plymouth to know where he’s at.

We had the same in the summer with Sanderson and Giles, some folk were apoplectic about them going when in real terms they were what they are, two championship level plodders.

City won’t care less about Doyle, they’ll have decided long ago that he wasn’t good enough to play for them in the short or medium term. They’ll have protection with a buy back clause if somehow his level sky rockets. They were happy for Cole Palmer to go, they really aren’t worried about TD
Yea to be fair I was fuming we let Giles leave but this season has shown that he wouldn’t have been anywhere near good enough. At least Giles actually stood out in the championship last season but Sanderson is just a championship level player who had a good game in the Asia cup once.

Cundle isn’t going to get any game time at all, we don’t play a 6 man centre midfield so he’s never going to get a chance. I’m happy to sell him for a low fee with a decent sell on and a cheap buy back… literally what every single big club does with youngsters in the same position (see Tommy Doyle).

Would have been good 5 years ago, way past it now.
100% if we want past it strikers there are plenty about Lukas Jutkiewicz do a job for 60 mins another goal today. Proper target man Lyndon Dkyes another prob get both of them for 3m. Why spend big when we can lump it to these kind of players, impeccable hold up play.

Hope there's some self-reflection going on at the club when we have the best part of £80 million worth of forwards out on loan -none of which have any obligation on those clubs to buy.
I know that the club still have hopes for Fabio long-term, despite reports to the contrary. I also know that prior to Fabio’s emotional breakdown after conceding ‘that’ penno, GON thought he was making good progress with him. Not heard anything about Sasa though.

Neto owes the club another year. He has been supported through three injuries now.

And he obviously loves the club and his teammates.

Build next season's top 6 side around him.
This is an interesting one worthy of debate. I actually agree with you. I think him saying he isn't going anywhere in January is nice, but in reality, let's get a full season.
On the other hand, is he another Jota? Supremely talented but injury prone?

Unless we give our youth a chance… How do we know if they are good enough??

Same example Doyle and Man City. I am sure they are now thinking twice about selling him to us… Especially after his recent performances

Sazsha out the door we should be expecting a striker surely
I'm sure they are not.

Footballers careers are short, he owes us nothing.
I dont think most footballers think like that, tbh. Loyalty and respect matter, as far as I can make out.

Neto, in particular, seems like someone who realises he has been looked after.

Late in the window suggests he's our backup if our main target doesn't get done...
Hopefully assistant to the back-up.
