Good luck Bright! What a shame... so much talent. MGW: THIS could be you, best to follow Neto's example of drive, dedication and desire to be the best!

Always thought he had more ability than MGW and certainly more physical presence. Really hoped after the Man City game that he would kick on. Despite the missed chances (and I think to say he missed 3 sitters is harsh in the extreme), he terrorised their defence that night.

But unfortunately it wasn't to be and it appears that a lack of application has finally caught up with him. Hope he gets it together and sorts his career out. Real waste of God-given talent.

Yet another one who with a bit of application could have done well.

Has talent. Just doesn't know how to develop it at this point in time. I wish him all the best for the future.

I really hope he finds a club and does well, I fear for him if he drops out of football.

I thought that loan at Coventry would kick start his career but no further loans anywhere have worked out.

Good luck bright

I hope he can do well for himself, but i fear he wont. Bags of talent, but just doesnt seem to grasp the basics of what he needs to do to fulfill that talent. He has been too reliant on others to keep him on track imo when he should be taking that responsibility on himself.

Harsh? Never mind my Nan, even Frankowski could have buried those :flushed:
You were making a decent case until you mentioned Frankowski. But really, sitters are taps in from 6 yards with no one in sight, not one-on-ones against an international goalkeeper. Worst miss of the match, if I remember correctly, was Helder's. Which, to be fair, was a one-on-one against the same keeper...

This tale highlights just how hard/almost impossible it is to make the grade at football. Over the years we must have had 1,000s of kids pass through our youth/academy set up and only a handful made it at Wolves - Keane, Lescott, Murray, Ikeme, Naylor and 1 or 2 I may have missed and several more at other clubs. Bright is just another to add to the long list of 'what might have beens'.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. He’ll be at Kidderminster within 2 years.

The thing is he came to this Country aged 14 without any members of his family ,couldn’t speak the language ,had to live in digs and everything would have been a massive culture shock .
As he progressed he obviously discovered the things that youngsters in this Country have had -cars,women designer clothes and socialising .
I am not saying he has burnt the candle at both ends but it may be that now that football isn’t the only thing in his life, just like many youngsters before him he can’t handle having to make football thé centre of his universe and may have to learn that to achieve the finer things in life he has to earn them .
I have no idea how much he was on but even at £2K a week that was £100K a year but more realistically £5K a week so £250K a year. From a footballing point of point of view he is now going to struggle to earn anywhere near that from now on and the longer he is without a club he will struggle to get back in .
The stark reality is over 800 senior professionals will be out of contract next month and around 600 young professionals either not taken on or released and allied to many clubs having reduced budgets so they will be far more selective in who they take on .
He has had a few loan spells which should have been his opportunity to put himself in the window or prove to Nuno he was ready to push on but he ground to a shuddering halt and is now outside the tent ****ing in which is damn hard but it leads to the obvious questions. Does he care and overall was he good enough anyway particularly where we are now ?A bit sad really .

Ahhhh .... the boy HAS greatness in him, such a pity! I had really high hopes for him, as did Nuno obviously!!

I hope he can still make a decent career for himself! Best of luck Bright!

Great thread title btw, one of the best I’ve ever seen, congrats OP!

Probably one of the rare occasions in recent history where (with the benefit of hindsight) the club has handled a player badly. Probably should have sold him to Coventry when they bid, at the very least once his contract was extended he ought to have gone back on loan to Coventry where he seemed to be settled. Even staying with our u23's would have been better than the bench at Wigan .

Ultimately though all he has had is potential and for one reason or another that has not developed. As a Wolves player he has been on a par with Graham, Hause and Iorfa.

Good luck to him though.

Maybe not 3 sitters but definitely 3 one v. ones against their goalkeeper, if he only scored one of them we could have won that cup that season.
I was there with my City supporting daughter and believe me City knew that they had escaped a deserved beating.

This is no surprise to me whatsoever. Been wasting his supposed talent for years.
Wish him the best of luck somewhere else, but can't see it.

Never thought he'd make it here
Suprised he's been with the club for so long, never had the drive.

Maybe but it appears the club gave him loads of chances and had their arm round him more than once, before trying the loan route. And let’s face it, he seems to have talent but no self-discipline with lots of rumours of not turning up for training (at Wolves and whilst on Several loans) and eventually training with the kids.

The fact that he has had his contract ended early, now, when there is no football on, and when most players contracts seem to be going to be extended automatically to the end of the season (whenever that is) indicates to me that the club have finally lost patience and that maybe something else has gone on behind the scenes (did he train whilst in isolation for eg?). He has basically been cut adrift, and has no one else to blame but himself.

I really thought he had talent and could make a decent career of it, but now I don’t care tbh. I can’t remember where Graham went but Hause and Iorfa have gone on to play at a decent level and presumably earn a more than decent living. I doubt that Bright will - I am sure it is easier in football, as in most work situations, to get a job when you have a job, so as an out of contract player Who hasn’t played anywhere for months (even before CV19) I doubt he is on many clubs radar.

You only have to look at the comments from multiple players about how talented Ravel Morrison was in comparison to his peers, to see that talent alone will get you nowhere.

Bright has all the tools to be whatever he wants to be in the game, but he will never have the mentality to do it.

A sad waste.

I suspect he will end up at Coventry.

Can't say I ever saw him have what I would call 'a good game', but I don't go to away games so maybe I missed something. No loss, based on what I did see

My own personal opinion is i reckon he thought his talent would get him by. Hopefully he will realise he needs hard work as well.

Attitude, attitude and attitude. Reports from clubs where he went on loan suggest that this is his problem. Bombed out of a (poor-ish) Kilmarnock, struggling to make the bench at Wigan despite bags of talent indicate that his head isn't right. I'm sure I read somewhere (during his early days at Wolves) that he got ****ed off because he thought he should be in the first team but wasn't being selected. Maybe its time he woke up to the reality that talent without a work ethic is no use to anyone.

Would love if they hauled MGW in front of Shi and Nuno.

Reading him the riot act there's a knock at the door

"WHAT"

"You wanted to see me boss?"

They promptly terminate Brights contract in front of MGW to send out a very clear message.

I may have been watching too much Netflix during lockdown.
I've been thinking more along the lines of Enter the Dragon, with MGW being Roper, Bright being Williams and Jeff Shi being Mr Han, reintroducing the two as Bright is hanging over a vat of acid

Loads of talent, not much application. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see him have a career at a high level but more likely to tear up L1/be a squad player at Championship level unless he sorts his head out. Although in saying that, with the uncertainty over the future of football at lower levels and impending end of the gravy train he might do well just to get a club in the next 12 months

It seems that the higher we climb the harder it will be for players to make the grade with us. That is why I find the fact that players like Bright and MGW acting as the have been perceived to absolutely baffling.
Kids, you've done **** all yet, and you've thrown your chances away. And again, Absolutely baffling.

Even ignoring the lousy attitude he was a striker who couldn't hit a barn door. A few nice tricks, but there are plenty those on display at the local park.

It will be a Chorley moment in later years .

Not questioning your knowledge on this, but how do people know? His wiki says he came to live in Birmingham and played for Northfields before having several trials before entering our academy, so its not like we swept him from the streets of Benin City? Also, Nigeria is english speaking isn't it?

Barnsley at home 23/09/17.

He played another 16 games for us after that with no goals.

In total, he played in 49 games for us (44 in the league), and scored 3 goals (2 of which were in the league cup vs Bristol Rovers and Barnet).

Think he had more than a fair chance.

Speaking to one of the players.Maybe I should have said English wasn’t his first language
