I've just read that a Canadian Lancaster bomber will be flying over to the UL in August and taking part in several shows with the RAF Lancaster.

Does anyone know what shows are taking place in the last couple of weeks of August and any websites I should can get info from?

I'm interested in any show with WWII and WW1 planes flying.

Such a shame they could not have included Cosford in their schedule.

Wings and Wheels at Dunsfold in Surrey (where Top Gear is filmed) is a good show in August.

As it's pretty local for us, I've taken my son there a few times, and they have a good mix for those interested in both cars and planes. They have the usual WWII fly pasts, Red Arrows, as well as others like the Vulcan that's still flying. The latter was superb last year doing it low altitude screeching run - an amazing sight and sound if you haven't seen it. If you just want the fly past and not the static displays, then you can park up and watch from your car without paying the entry fee.

There were a few lumps in throats when I was there, they were followed by Hurricanes,Seafires and other british aircraft ,they all re grouped and gave the Lancaster an escort over the airfield. They then had a display of American P-51's Kittyhawks ,B24 etc and they did the same with the B17,absolutely brilliant plus you get entry to the museum included.

There was a good show on Quest on-and-off over the last few years, hosted by Mark Evans I think his name, they built a sports car (AC Cobra - kit), a 4x4 and also light aircraft; really good TV. Expensive past-time I dare say but builidng and flying your own plane would be something else.

I live only about 15 km from Hamilton and this Lancaster flies over our area nearly every summer.
The sound of the engines are unmistakable and amazing!

What a fantastic trip to be on that flight, Hamilton - Labrador - Greenland - Iceland - Scotland .
