Didn't realise he was so old.
I saw a letter from him once, when they shut Sutton Park to vehicles due to damage and vandalism from boy racers.
He said "I've always enjoyed driving my Rolls Royce through Sutton Park and have installed gates directly to my property to give me quick access avoiding the traffic, will you please grant me an exemption".
Completely batty.

Doug Ellis and Star Soccer immediately comes to mind for some reason.
Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Apologies if I have got this wrong as I'm too young to actually remember it first hand but I am sure after some of the reading up I did on the Bhatti era - when Ellis was director at Wolves he put the club into administration in order to try and buy it on the cheap.

That's true, he was an opportunist looking to take advantage, but now is not the right time to look back.
RIP.

Really? With all respect to those who have posted the usual RIP stuff, I doubt anyone is that cut up about his passing on here. This is a discussion board after all.
I'm guessing if Dave Whelan died, you'd ban all mention of his broken leg?
Broke his leg, funny he never mentioned it,:rolleyes:

Not, going to lie, the fact that we’re only just recovering from the mess he put us in whilst his club prospered and benefitted leaves a sour note.

Never speak ill of the dead. Yes Doug Ellis had his faults, but haven't we all.

R.I.P.

Best to wait until the body’s cold at least though.

I don't think anyone is speaking ill of the dead. I've certainly not read anything derogatory about Doug. However, if you've made serious errors of judgement in your life that affected many people's views of you, don't be surprised if your loss isn't mourned. Quite simple really.

Deadly Doug dead. #R.I.P.

Rest At Ease would be equally applicable to many, considering. :)

Hard-nosed and always business savvy he had a real good innings whatever.

Why exactly, fact is he put the Wolves into administration in the hope he and Ken Wheldon could buy the club back cheap, as a result we ended up with the Bhattis and almost the end of our famous club, should that not be mentioned?
