There are reports that the one-time Chairman of Watford and two-time bankrupted 52-year-old is on the brink of a £27 Million takeover of Birmingham City.

West Ham United's David Sullivan is backing his buyout financially, which will need a look at with him being part of The Hammers' ownership?

And, of course, his past will surely have to be considered. If the EFL lets him in, then the game's future is dire.

I have been told, don't know how true it is, that the reason that Birmingham haven't done any work to their stadium (part shut due to safety issues) is that they are trying to get the stadium which will be used for the commonwealth games.

Makes sense as West Ham did the same thing

Sounds like a match made in heaven. Seriously though how the hell is this clown even under consideration (and what is in it for the porno Chuckle brother)? Fit and proper person my rear end.

Back in 2008, I pulled together a meeting between Birmingham Council and the football club for the consultancy I worked for. The idea was to build a stadium for the 2022 Commonwealth Games which Blues would then occupy. Karen Brady was keen (said they could fill a 50k ground). The Credit Crunch and the Blues owners dumping them for Wet Spam put paid to those plans.

Interesting, not least with the Alexander Stadium dropping to 18k post the games and Birmingham City University taking over the Stadium's West Stand

Haven't there been a series of posts suggesting that much of the Commonwealth Games stadium is temporary? @Kashmire Hawker will know (he works for the Games organisation).

Edited to add: Got a phone call part way through typing this and Kashmire posted in the interim.

Yes - the 2nd tier of the stands around the bends are all temp—games capacity of 31.7k will fall to 18k

Love to hate them, feel a bit sorry for their sounder fans like Davo, but at the same time it's quite funny..... Just a lost decade of rubbish since they won the league cup.
Don't think they'd get a massive amount for St Andrew's, not really a city centre location, and it's a proper ground (nice to get out of!) not one of these out of town retail park grounds. Maybe with HS2 and the tram arriving that side of Brum could mean it's worth more?
Some of these potential owners are so dodgy!

I don’t like them but how is this possible. If he defaults on the payments then owning two clubs is a conflict or interest

They don't even own St Andrews any more. Sold it a few years back for FFP.

Always had a soft spot for blues my son in law is blues and my new lady's family are all blues .tell you what would rather have them being successful than vile every day of the week. The blues hold the name of there city so yes good luck to them I say its about time thay had some success and put the vile in the background for once.

I hope it works out for them. Rather the blues than the delusional historians in witton

Don't like blues but don't want bassini to own them either

That Talksport interview is horrendous. This bloke talks like one of us would if we took over a football club, just a pub bull****ter and no real answers to any questions, a complete amateur and very dangerous, plus he doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut when he should.

I’m sure that eased any fears blose fans may have.

All I got from that is there’s no ****ing way he’s buying Birmingham.

This guy was on TalkSPORT yesterday, most bizarre interview i’ve ever heard

Is there a link anywhere, a couple of Blues fans I know were stunned to silence after hearing it!
Jeez, if he had that affect on them given some of their past owners it really must have been a car crash!

He's a bizarre character, quite how he manages to be near anything more significant than an ice cream van (where he'd probably end up getting done for selling past-its-best 99s, then sell the van for parts and accuse the food hygiene folks of a smear campaign) is beyond me. He's a chancer, he can barely string a sentence together, and he's got no record of success in any business venture.

I wish him the best of luck at Small Heath.
