Similarly rugby league in the North of England. I've seen rugby league fans down in the Smoke for the Wembley final who made most football fans look like saints.
True to an extent, there is certainly no lack of passion, or gentility of expression, at the Hull derby and I have seen odd outbreaks of violence between fans of Hull/Leeds/Saints, but generally speaking there is a different culture. Support is cross generational and family based. At the Challenge Cup final there are usually fans of every club present, often wearing their own colours and at most League games it is still normal for fans of both sides to mix freely. It's more like football used to be prior to the 1970s. Just as on the pitch there is more respect shown and given.

I’m not convinced that the Mail really knows anything about the bloodied fan.

Linked below is a vlog from an Albion fan in the corner near the Wolves fans, and it provides some footage of the Albion fans kicking off and fighting with the police. It looks like right at the start of that, a Wolves fan came over to taunt the Albion fans from the touchline, but he was quickly escorted away even before the police arrived and the fighting began. The second vlog is from further along that stand, but does show the two idiot Albion fans who came into the middle of the pitch, and around 21 mins, the bloodied fan being taken away past the Wolves fans. The vlogs also show a rain of missiles from the Albion fans down onto the police in front of them.

The tweet below the vlogs shows the Wolves fans view of the bloodied fan being escorted away, and since he’s giving it large towards the Wolves fans, I can’t see him being one of ours. Loads of other tweets from the Wolves end show a lot of fighting between the Albion fans and the police.

Anyone who was in the away end will tell you the bald guy covered in blood was fighting the police and got hit by a baton, nobody in the media seems to want to acknowledge that though.

The Baggie mate of mine who was in the Brummie road, close to where it kicked off said as far as he could see it was one Wolves fan that was targetted by Albion fans after the goal, cops tried to go in sort it out, they were heavy handed and that's when the brummie road lot piled in on the Police.

WMP seem to be incredibly eager to get the batons out, remember one of them leaping around like a chimpanzee at the Villa game last season when we were simply walking back to the station, looked absolutely ridiculous, people were just laughing at him.

This is what I've heard for an Albion work mate. He said there was one wolves fan who jumped up when we scored the second. Originally he believes there was only one Wolves fan but thinks there was a second.

He said that Stewards and Police came remove him but the whole thing took too long to deal with and it escalated and then blow out of proportion.

"IT WOR THE WEST BROM FANS" as their fans chuck stuff at the police.

I’m certain we won’t. They will get a big fine. We will get a smaller one on fairly spurious grounds
I can’t see why we should get any sort of fine tbh. Disorder came from their end (regardless if it was wolves fans) so they need to take responsibility for it. Ultimately a) police or steward it properly or b) ticket it properly as their tickets never made general sale so any Wolves fan in there has had a ticket from a season ticket holder or member.

There’s several different ways of making 100% sure away fans aren’t in the home end and they did absolutely nothing to stop it.

There's videos of the guy in the white jacket on social media, singing Wolves songs from the off. Singing F off West Brom to the Liquidator.

It was obvious to everyone around him that him and his mates were Wolves fans from the very start.

Yet no one did anything about it until going 2-0 down and turning salty.
Yeah have read and seen similar. Seems like he gave it to them for a long time before getting a smack. So while it looks like a cowardly attack against a guy with his hands up...he had been asking for it. That one's on him tbf.

The big trouble in the far corner looks to be a bunch of thugs desperate for a scrap...against one lone bloke.

Completely agree. I don't see how wolves can actually be blamed for anything at all. I just have a feeling we will get a small fine anyway. Albion completely embarrassed themselves yesterday and they should cop all of it, but I don't think they will. Had my albion mates trying to both sides it this morning, which is rich considering I've had to listen to them talking about our idiots/thugs for years whilst awarding themselves best fans in the universe trophies.

Tbf to the BBC comment I posted above, you can see on that first link that as soon as Pedro scores a flare goes flying from the Wolves fans straight in to the Albion supporters, which is stupid behaviour on our part (amazing scenes that aside though!)

West Midlands police have released a statement about the crowd disorder at West Brom's FA Cup match against Wolves on Sunday.

It says: "Six people were arrested in connection with trouble at West Brom's game against Wolves yesterday, as officers vowed to make further arrests in connection with the unacceptable violence.

"Four West Brom supporters and two Wolves fans were arrested, and all have since been bailed while the investigation continues."

Thanks for that. I was speaking as an outsider looking in.

Jim White proving himself to be a plonker again this morning.
I thought they were pretty reasonable to be fair. They mentioned a Wolves fan in the A****n end, but didn't criticise the club or Wolves fans in general. They then went on to debate how to try and stop away fans getting tickets in home ends.

Whilst White can be a muppet, how is that being a plonker on this occasion?

This was the one they showed on the telly whilst planning away from the trouble!

To be honest with you, it seemed fair enough (apart from the rather cowardly nature) if you go in the home end and get found out you'v

Yeah I've been to a fair few Wigan/Saints derbys and there's plenty of mixed fans in the stands.

The game is not trouble free of course (although strangely there are more incidents about after the football season has finished) but generally when someone is sat in the same stand as you they aren't dehumanised as when in a different end at football.

It isn't Union either, League has a passion and rivalry similar to football, just less ******** as most the aggression is taken out on the pitch and most of the fans will have played the game at some level understand that.

I've watched quite a bit of footage both from Wolves and Albion perspective, and Albion don't come away from this looking very good at all, from the barely coherent swearing grunts to launching themselves and throwing missiles at the police and trying to breach the field of play.

Not a good idea for anyone to buy tickets in the away end though, let alone West Brom. I've been there and got away with it (mainly because we didn't score) and also not got away with it (Adama scoring in injury time) and was stupid for convincing myself I'd be able to override automatic responses and not get noticed if it failed.

I can state as others have the bloodied guy was an albion fan he along with a few tried to charge towards the pitch and got a baton and some pepper spray for their trouble
Its a shame we wont get any praise for how the away end behaved as it all went on just stood there getting to enjoy the second goal for a lot longer than normal
Far as this being my first BCD I wont forget it in a hurry

LOL.........Always makes me laugh how they sing 'Lord's My Shepherd' and then behave like that ......****ing weird lot and makes me realise how lucky I was to choose Wolves when living amongst them in Wednesbury as a kid
They sound like they're at a school assembly from the 80s. Very weird fans

Yea, when they starting singing that holding aloft big crucfixes and clutching bibles would seem order of the day.

As far as I saw and as far as any video that I've seen not one. Was very jovial with the police down the ramp etc after the game too, don't think they'll have any issue with the away end.
Now how many albion fans did?
Dozens?
Including throwing bottles we're probably talking low hundreds. All while being cheered on by the majority in attendance.

There's a video of the kid in the white coat getting chased out by Albion fans and getting a few smacks for his troubles. I've watched so many times now I can't remember which one it was on haha. Sure it was posted in this thread though.

I love the official reaction to the game from our club. Basically, they are focusing totally on the football and not the Albion disorder. GON immediately defended the Wolves fans and wanted to talk about the football and the performance, all the official club podcasts hardly mention the Albion disorder and the official club highlights with Micky Burrows completely edit out the Albion disorder without even mentioning it. I've noticed that Albion have commented to the media about it but we have said nothing. I think they are right, they don't want it to overshadow the result and they know it is all on Albion. Heard nothing but praise for our fans from the club since the game. Really glad we are not playing into the 'both sides at fault' narrative.

The state of some (a lot) of the Albion fans I've seen on vlogs from the game. Bloody hell.

That said, good on the ones on their forum taking ownership that it was all them.

Perhaps, although tell that to the bloke he crept up behind (like a smelly ninja) and booted in the spine.

Only just seen that. Are you sure it's the same guy?! ;) :tearsofjoy:

I think he might be getting a knock on the door of his narrowboat in the next few days.

Half the problem is identifying those involved that conceal their identify with a hood up and scarf around their face. Anyone that went across the edge of the pitch from the home end to the side was doing so for one reason only and should receive some sort of punishment.

Yeah I had a bit of “whataboutery” from my Albion pals last night. For me it’s all cause and effect. Had they not sold on their tickets to Wolves fans, or the club police the selling of tickets properly then that doesn’t happen in the ground.
