True to an extent, there is certainly no lack of passion, or gentility of expression, at the Hull derby and I have seen odd outbreaks of violence between fans of Hull/Leeds/Saints, but generally speaking there is a different culture. Support is cross generational and family based. At the Challenge Cup final there are usually fans of every club present, often wearing their own colours and at most League games it is still normal for fans of both sides to mix freely. It's more like football used to be prior to the 1970s. Just as on the pitch there is more respect shown and given.Similarly rugby league in the North of England. I've seen rugby league fans down in the Smoke for the Wembley final who made most football fans look like saints.
