Personally I hate them. So who can come up with an alternative. I have 2 ideas but I'll let the thread run its course. If anyone mentions them I'll flag it up.
I've never been convinced Doyler should take them. I remember he missed one in a pre-season friendly just after he joined, and last year against Spurs it wasn't too convincing. Hunts pen against us when we played Hull was superb, so Hunt for me!!
Thinker Burnside Did Things Differently
First it was Chris Waddle and Stuart Pearce in Turin in 1990. Then, a tentative Gareth Southgate inadvertently passed the audition at Wembley in 1996 for an embarrassing pizza advert. Fast forward to Paul Ince and David Batty in France '98, to Darius...
Another penalty decision didn't go our way yesterday, I was behind the goal and Collins blatantly moved his arm towards the ball. Add that to the penalties we should of had against Newcastle and Spurs and probably one or two more that I've forgotten about. Same thing happened last season too, so...
Saw a league table on the weekend based on penalties awarded this season and surprise, surprise Wolves were bottom with 1 penalty. Everyone else had at least 2 or more. I know that the smaller clubs get harshly treated but Burnley and Blues seem to have had no problem getting penalties. Is there...
There's been a few this weekend.
I just want to get off my chest a personal bug bear that makes me go mental.
If you gently place a penalty along the ground, either side or down the middle, you DESERVE to miss you blithering, pin head, footballing clown.
You are basically saying, "I have a...
We all have opinions on the validity of the first penalty award.Although I swore like a trooper when it was given I can see why Lee Mason gave it.If you win the ball first but then foul the player in doing so it is still a penalty, unfortunately.
However, compare that to the Keogh one at Wigan...
TO put it mildly, Wolves' Carling Cup run ended in unglamorous fashion. Against League Two opposition, inside the running track of a three-quarters deserted athletics stadium, Mick McCarthy's rejigged team was a shadow of the fluent attacking force that has...

...and the only club in the championship without a red card so far ....is us!!
Slightly odd statictic that was pointed out to me by an anorak wearing Watford fan!!

Not surprised Ince has a good squad of players and they play fast attacking football never letting you settle. I am impressed with him at the moment, even though like us they lost on Saturday I expect them like us to be pushing for promotion when the fat arzed lady warbles!
Just mulling over the prospect of penalties tomorrow night...
When was the last time we were involved in a penalty shootout - was it when we beat Sheffield Wednesday in the cup with a fantastic 3-0 turnaround?
13 of ourPlayers have missed penalties in ordinary time and shoot outs over the last 4 years all of them placers not one of them blasting the damn thing-Unbelievable and totally unacceptable-Sort It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just read the report on the WOW for the reserve game against Cardiff and see that yet another penalty chance was squandered. We have an appalling record at penalties, which has been a problem pretty much since Curle and Muscat left. It is almost an epidemic amongst the players. It suddenly...
Not concerned about the result last night between Celtic & Man. U. but the penalty should have been re-taken. The goalkeeper was about 2 yards off his line and several Celtic players were in the box when it was taken. It seems that referees don't take note of this type of infringement at all. I...
