Yes, Trincao is a huge disappointment - but why is Dendoncker playing further forward when we have alternatives who are legitimate forwards? And why is Hwang isolated on the left wing half the time?

That's what gets me.

Our system renders any winger massively isolated. Which is why to be effective in any way you have to be able to beat a man, often two, which Adama did pretty much better than anyone in the league.

It's also why I thought Trincao would be better suited to a number 10 type role. He clearly has some technical ability, but his lack of pace will always restrict him, particularly given the way we play.

Can't - transfer windows....
Ah.... That is a shame. Like others have said if you play a system where the front guys run between the spaces behind the back line Adama could be the best in the league. He can give the defender 5 yards and still beat him. What he does after it 9 times out of 10 lets him down, but having that option would be nice! All we have now is......... er, nothing.

Think it’s clear now even in Spain reporting Traore going back to Wolves and Trincao will return to Barcelona

Not worked out for either. Sometimes you have to accept that both leagues respectively are very very different

Is it the leagues or is it that adama was never close to being a Barca level player? He's no better then a sub for us.

I would love Adama to sign a contract with us. As long as he accepts he's an impact sub most of the time, and he accepts he's not the best player here wage wise.

Yes. But he'll probably not settle for this.
Probably not. At that point you get what you can for him. For sure he's coming back here because he's still under contract, but he will be massively disappointed that his home club rejected him again.
As an aside if only someone just sat down with him to explain how devastating he could be if he just utilised what he had correctly. It doesn't matter what team he played against, he could beat a high line defence every single time with his pace. He either gets fouled or has an opportunity.

Donck makes the midfield into a 3 when out of possession, because Neves and Moutinho don't have the legs or mobility to play in a 2 in the premier League (we have known this since the first couple of games in our first PL season with Nuno).

We either sacrifice a forward for the extra midfielder, or a defender for the extra midfielder.

None of our defenders can play in a 4, so we sacrifice the forward and ask Donk, the most mobile midfielder, to do the legwork and get up the pitch.

I still for the life of me cant understand why people think letting go a player who wont sign a contract, wanted to leave and wasnt even a first choice player was a poor decision. The deal was poor, but the decision was the right one. We just dont really need him. The mistake was not strengthening where we were weak like midfield and striker.
I don’t get it either. Some fans just can’t see his flaws but yet they can see flaws ( or did), with Trincao or Silva or Podence or Bruno……….but after 4 seasons, they can’t with Adama.

I’m sure they’ve tried everything with him. They probably got him sessions with a sports motivator/shrink/analyst specialist.
If you’re paying a bloke £50,000 a week, and he’s not performing, you would very quickly try to turn him around.

By now, I think Jeff is glad to have him off the books. At some point you cut your losses, don’t look back and move on.

I can honestly see him going to Spurs for about £10m if Conte is still manager next season.

I still think he has a future for us on the left wing/up front. I loved seeing him run through in the first couple of games, yes he didn’t score but the chances were there.

If Adama didn’t do well at Barca, then I doubt Conte won’t want him……even for £10m.
He did ok but is behind Dembele who they are desperate to give a new contract to and is a much better player.

I think in a different system, i'd keep him because i like what he can bring to the table. How we play now, i dont think he makes any difference at all tbh.

I’m not sure that anyone has said he doesn’t have flaws.

He seems to be running out of options to me.

Maybe all the kids that love him because he’s the dream fifa Xbox player can chip in their pocket money and buy him, because it seems professional coaches aren’t too interested

I think a lot of people like him because he's unpredictable and exciting.

I'm going to our last few home games and I can't say I'm too excited after what was served up on Saturday.

At least he's box office, if nothing else!!

I know its only just past 3pm and this is not April Fool's Day - but this statement is tongue in cheek - right?

Maybe. But he’s only any use if we aim to be the next Crystal Palace for the next few years - 1 goalkeeper, 9 defenders, and one sideshow player that might do something.

Probably a bit unfair on Zaha actually - he got a few goals/assists each season in that model!

I’d rather he was gone and we could finally move on and build a team.

In all of this **** show i actually feel sorry for Adama in all this, as by all accounts he works very hard, he's a model pro and decent human being.
Yes he wouldn't sign a contract here, and Wolves initially helped him get a dream move (for him), but Barca have treated him and the club with absolute disrespect and contempt in all of this.
He's just been used as a pawn as all they brought him in for is to make another player play.
I'm sure it will knock him for a while as a person, as it would anybody in this situation. Rumours are he's fuming about it.

The hope is for me is it fires him right up and comes back here ready to fight the world for us. Like i've said imo he's a massive asset to have in particular situations, and he would add to our **** poor front line, as long as he doesn't want mad wages and he accepts he's an impact player.
Note: others may not have my POV..

On the other hand we’ve spunked £5m on his loan fee which is an utter waste of money.
Full details of deals rarely get disclosed, especially by us.
If that loan fee was in place to begin with it’s quite possible it’s been waived as part of the Traore loan deal.

Wanted to give the club the benefit of the doubt and thought that we must have had some form of buy obligation or finalised agreement around a swap with Trincao in order to let Adama leave on loan at such a crucial point in the season.

If these latest reports are true, it’s turned out to be an absolutely shambolic decision which has gone a long way towards destroying the momentum we had built up at the end of January.

This is the only explanation for it not being a complete car-crash of a deal.

Maybe if they chose not to buy Troare then we didn't have to pay a loan fee for Trincao? Effectively saving us £5m?

As you say, we will likely never know. But the club should tell us if that is the case, just so people don't think they've been completely asleep at the wheel!
