Everton vs Wolves. The verdict.

Better than I expected. Basically nullified Everton who should have been up for it more than they were. Yet again we are undone because we can't mark from set pieces and our failure to have any end product in the final third.

Ruddy - Nice to see him in the net and he was far more commanding than Rui. I'd actually like him to stay but he deserves first team football somewhere. 7
Ait-Nouri - Decent performance. Showed some neat feet at times but needs to muscle up to be a truly good player at this level. 7
Kilman - Did OK. Hope he plays on Sunday. 7
Boly - Started slow, wayward understrength passes but found his feet eventually. Should have done better with the goal though. 6
Coady - Usual. 6
Semedo - frustrating to watch him tear up the wing a few times, then stop and turn back. Defensively still a mess but fortunately Everton never really exposed him. 6
Moutinho - Not his day. Off the pace at times, misplaced passes and his corners were weak. 5
Neves - Another not really on it today. He was constantly looking for a forward pass but no -one presented themselves so he had to go with the shorter option. Bet he feels really frustrated right now. 6
Traore - playing on his own most of the time. Our best player on the day by a country mile and our only threat. 8
MGW - Tried hard, created some space, found some gaps but just at the vital moment his control let him down. Encouraging though and mystified why Nuno took him off. 7
Silva - Did nothing but hopefully another important lesson about football at this level. I expect a different player next season. 5

Subs - who cares? None of them were going to change the game and none of them should be in the Premiership next season.

Nuno - I really hope we aren't watching his last few days as our Head Coach. I don't want him to go out like this. He's better than what we have achieved this season. Don't understand his midfield selection today or his substitutions.

Everton - given they still had something to play for, they weren't at it. We had 10 corners in the first 31 mins as the away team. They got the break they didn't earn and won the game because of it.

Ref - Madeley is one of those irritating refs who really doesn't have a clue about the game at this level. Four decisions went Everton's way at the start of the game when they should have gone to us. How he failed to protect Traore from Diagne is beyond me. I can excuse him the pen as he gets one look but the VAR ref got that handball wrong. Didn't expect anything less though. 4

Our defending of set pieces is awful
Traore and MGW played well
Short corners need to seriously gtfo
Up top is so light it's embarassing
IT WAS A PENALTY
Everton are as bad as us
Richarlison is always going to score
Need a big Summer

Even dominating the ball we created next to nothing. It’s really bad.

Why is Silva playing on the wing?

Why is our best midfielder so deep?

Why is Moutinho taking set pieces?
Scratch that: why is Moutinho playing?

Why are we still playing a back 3?

Why is our only attacking outlet Traore?

Why are we taking Boly off for Donk to play 3 yards further forward?

If this club doesn’t solve the recruitment problems that have plagued our last two summers then we’re done.

Entire backline needs replacing. Wont be sorry to see Kilman, Saiss, Boly, Semedo or Coady gone.

I am sure Moutinho and Neves will compete for MOTM plaudits against Manure. So obvious to me they are playing-out time before teh Euros and moves to other clubs this summer.

Traore MOTM. If could cross the ball or at least have a target man to aim for would be a start. Dont expect him to be at Wolves next season.

Not sure RAN has done enough to be offered a contract. Same with Vitinha. Silva was poor.

Nuno out-coached by Ancelotti. Only one team in it after the break. Predictably Nuno couldnt or wouldnt make the changes needed.

This garbage is putting me off football. Can't remember ever being so bored with it and I've been a fan since the 70's.
Really? Were you there during the Hoddle second season, the last Jackett season or when Shamberk stunk the place out?

I think today showed just how poor our squad is... We have nothing going forward apart from Traore, yes we are missing Neto and Podence but injuries happen and our complete lack of options has cost us massively... We struggled to have a shot let alone a goal! I just don't see the plan going forward apart from hoping Traore takes on their whole team!

Moutinho isn't the player he was can't keep up with play, class act but plays way to many games for someone his age like Dendoncker should only be a squad player! How Nuno didn't see what most of us saw was a worry really reluctant to take him off Vitinha should have been on sooner!!

Set pieces defending and attacking have been a disgrace this season really needs to be sorted for next season or things won't change we can't keep giving soft goals away!

Big decisions need to be made in the summer! First being sending Willian Jose back to Spain! Hopeless!

We have professional footballers who cant cross a ball, who cant beat the first man from a corner. Just so frustrating to watch.

I had a really busy day at work and still not used to the 18:00 kicks offs but I completely forgot we were playing until just after half time. I’ve never forgotten we were playing, regardless of what else has been going on. Saddens me how apathetic I’ve become about Wolves this season. Partly due to behind closed doors etc but mainly due to the often slow and predictable football we’ve been playing most of the season. Only real positive I can take is we’ve retained our place in the Premier League.

Defend defend defend defend defend then maybe adama try and run the field and score been like that all year. Complete ****!!! we might not have a load of pace but at least try and pack the midfield and play through the the middle. No movement, no one touch passing, no drive, no passion, no technique and complete lack of ideas.

Nuno Out !!!
I can’t decide if Our Attack vs Our Defence in training leads Nuno to think:

- we are the best attacking team in the world
- the most solid defence in the world

o_O;)

I don't think we were bad at all tonight, but obviously without an adult playing up front we were always toothless in attack.
As Tring said, so sad to see Mouts so off the pace, and it was baffling why the livelier MGW was subbed instead of him.

Good performances from Ruddy (Thx very much Big John if that is your last game), Boly, Alt Nouri, Semedo, MGW, and Adama.

Midfield was a bit better, but saying that considering Mouts weak performance.

If we had had a full side out, and plus 1-2 new players, we could have beat them comfortably. Frustrated with the defeat because it should have been a draw, Everton were **** poor in my opinion. Dodgy corner for the goal, and a penalty that was denied.

Sometimes there is just no justice. But the signs that with a full strength side, we would be much better.
If we'd have scored more goals than them we would have won lol! We were dire!

Hmm, the difference is in those is that most of us knew we were ****. You have a lot of people here still in denial today because they have blind faith in Nuno no matter what he does and I'm unsure if this sentiment is justified with his current decisions.

Also, Jackett was handcuffed by Morgan who stopped spending so I dont know why everyone likes to pile on Kenny when he didn't have the resources Lambert or Nuno had.

thought ait nouri looked bright showed patches especially running at players.

We just dont have enough spark or play at times, it has consistently shown recently.

Sorry mouts you really are deflating our middle of the park. Neves needs to be playing what mouts used to do otherwise he becomes a passenger.

Lacklustre moutinho inevitably means Lacklustre neves,. I much prefer them not playing together.

want to see vitinha and neves in there against united

Practice match number 25 ? We seem so passive.
The point is to fight for a win isn’t it ?

We don’t offer anything from corners or free kicks. We used to.

We don’t offer anything from a counter attack. We used to.

We can’t defend. We used to.

Bobbins. **** off Nuno, you’re so last season.

Bit of a damp squib. Didn't think we were too bad but no real substance. Traore man of the match. We desperately need a new 'spine'. Right sided defender. Replacement for Moutinho and a new striker. Not convinced that Jimenez will ever be the same and Fabio is Sunday league standard.
Your last sentence removed any credibility that you may have had forever.

I thought that was one of our better performances, particularly first half, when we were largely in control. Once we conceded I couldn't really see us breaking them down, apart from some Adama magic.
Definitely seen us play worse recently, but the lack of attacking threat is omnipresent.
Miffed not to see Vitinha playing from the start, at least he looks forward more than Ruben and Joao.
Everton are horrible. Draw would have been a fair result.

Traore our best player. And he's someone I would sell in a heartbeat. Says it all really.

Basically what we knew already, we don’t have the depth. Lack of attacking quality was the issue. Traore played well but desperately missed Jimenez and Neto. That was the difference today. Not sure what fans are expecting with what we’re having to put out in the final third.

It will need to be sorted very soon. as though it is very unfortunate that our two best attackers are injured (and our third best left), there are no points handed out for misfortune. And in a few weeks, we start again on zero points, with those same players still injured, presumably.

If the next 6 months are like the last 6, we will be in the relegation struggle at Xmas. And unless we get some top players in, nothing can change, can it?

Kenny Jackett's run of home 0-0's 5 years ago?
To be fair to Jackett he kept us up when lesser managers would have taken that squad down.

First half tonight was actually fairly decent by this season's standards. Response to going behind was poor though.
On the plus side I might be able to get an away ticket next season once all our away glory hunters mysteriously melt away.

What was the point of playing a back five tonight? Has Nuno still not decided what formation he wants to play next season? That entire game was just give the ball to Traore and hope he does something miraculous. The back five isn't working anymore, it's boring and we end up passing the ball in our half for most of the game only to lose 1-0 and have hardly any clear cut chances to show for it.

Give it up and start being more progressive, stick with the four and stop playing Championship midfielders at the back.

Moutinho played well first half the entire team did

but ultimately we lost the game big changes needed
You can't be serious? His only contribution of note was wasting an opportunity to put through Fabio and taking horrific corners. His 2nd half was one of the worst performances of the season, so granted it wasn't as bad as that though.

Out for a meal so only saw the second half from just after their goal. Based on that, all Wolves, but never looked like scoring unless VAR had done what it rarely does and given us the benefit of the doubt. Very little creative spark going forward, and we were playing the 1-0 specialists, so the result was never in doubt having gone behind.

On holiday this week, and honestly have little interest in watching any of our last three games.
