Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's 25th goal of the season proved enough for Mick McCarthy's side, who have been in pole position throughout the season.</p><p></p><p>They have 86 points, six ahead of their nearest challengers Birmingham, who won 1-0 at Watford thanks to Cameron Jerome's 73rd minute effort, and ten ahead of third-placed Sheffield United, who do not play until Monday.</p><p></p><p>At the other end of the table, Charlton have been relegated after their 2-2 draw with Blackpool. Phil Parkinson's team had to keep their shrivelling hopes alive by winning at The Valley today, and then hope other results went their way. However Nottingham Forest's 1-0 victory at Coventry City pulled them 14 points clear of Charlton, while 21st-placed Barnsley's 0-0 draw at Reading left them 12 points ahead.</p><p></p><p>Deon Burton and Jonjo Shelvey scored early for Charlton in the second half to put them 2-0 up, but Dudley Campbell pulled one back from the penalty spot for Blackpool and Lee Hughes's 90th minute equaliser compounded Charlton's misery.</p><p></p><p>It is unclear exactly who will join Charlton in League One next season, but second from bottom Southampton's 2-0 defeat Sheffield Wednesday means they are three points off safety with two games left to play. Any one from Barnsley, Forest, Norwich and Plymouth could fall as well.</p><p></p><p>Meanwhile in League One, Leicester have been promoted as champions after beating Southend 2-0 at Roots Hall. Matty Fryatt's second half double ensured Leicester have bounced straight back from their relegation from the Championship last season. Peterborough, in second place, are primed to win automatic promotion too after Craig Mackail Smith's 25th minute strike earning them a 1-0 win at home to Stockport.</p><p></p><p>MK Dons are four points behind in third place after they won 1-0 at S****horpe to move above Millwall, who went down 4-2 at Bristol Rovers.</p><div class="related" style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;"><ul><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/championship">Championship</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/wolves">Wolverhampton Wanderers</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/birminghamcityfc">Birmingham City</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/sheffieldunited">Sheffield United</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/charltonathletic">Charlton Athletic</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blackpool">Blackpool</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/southampton">Southampton</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/plymouthargyle">Plymouth Argyle</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/nottinghamforest">Nottingham Forest</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/norwichcity">Norwich City</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/leagueonefootball">League One</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/leicestercity">Leicester City</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/peterborough">Peterborough</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/mkdons">MK Dons</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/millwall">Millwall</a></li></ul></div><div class="terms"><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk">guardian.co.uk</a> &copy; Guardian News & Media Limited 2009 | Use of this content is subject to our <a href="http://users.guardian.co.uk/help/article/0,,933909,00.html">Terms & Conditions</a> | <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/help/feeds">More Feeds</a></div><p style="clear:both" />
