It's a bit of a farce as there is no account taken of the different amount of games available to clubs in which to earn points.

We had 6 more matches to earn Europa League points in as they count the qualifiers (in which Crusaders and Pyunik weren't a very high standard of opposition), while those that get to start in the group stage – who on paper are the better teams – don't have the opportunity to accumulate those easy points.

The PL also has 38 games to earn points in, compared to 34 in the Bundesliga, for example, and England has two domestic cup competitions to earn points in (not that we earned any in the League Cup!).

Still.. 10th best team in the world... it sounds nice!

No idea how it's calculated but we jumped from 693rd in 2018 to 10th. Surely finishing 7th and getting through the Europa Group Stage can't catapult you that far?
